NBC Announces Fate of Brooklyn Nine-Nine

at .

NBC has decided the fate of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and it's good news.

The Peacock network has renewed the hit comedy series for an eighth season.

The big surprise here is that the renewal is coming three months before the launch of Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7.

True Love - Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 12

Fans of the show will be glad to know the show will not be left hanging and will be on the air until at least 2021.

This means Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be spending three seasons on NBC following FOX's controversial decision to cancel it after five seasons.

Given the state of the network's comedy line-up, the early renewal is not that shocking.

Lunch-A-Bunch - Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 13

Both Will & Grace and The Good Place are ending this season, and Sunnyside has already been nixed from the schedule following low ratings.

Perfect Harmony is not faring well in the ratings and is coming in just ahead of Sunnyside's average, meaning that it will probably be given the pink slip once its order is complete.

The only constant so far this season on the comedy front for NBC is Superstore. Despite fans reacting negatively to the quality of late, the series is on par with its 2018-19 season ratings.

Rosa and Jake - Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 Episode 14

With ratings slipping across the board, this is good news, and NBC recently rewarded it by expanding its episode order for the season.

As for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, NBC states that its sixth season averaged 3.2 million total viewers and a 1.2 rating, coming in well ahead of the ratings it had on FOX.

Even more promising is that the numbers swelled to 6.4 million viewers and a 3.1 rating after 35 days of linear and digital viewing was factored in.
