Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Muluc

Oh -- Oh my God. What just happened?

When Marlin's gun went off, an audible gasp ricocheted off the walls of my living room.

Those final moments on Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6 were shocking and totally unexpected.

That jaw-dropping cliffhanger set the tone for the remainder of the season, and you better believe that it's going to be explosive.

Biker Brothers - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6

Emily's intense dedication to the Agricultural Park this season has been perplexing. What was the point?

Pretty much every one of her scenes revolved around steps taken to get the bid, or frustration because an unforeseen obstacle developed that she had to overcome to get the bid.

Emily has been turned inside out and upside down during her journey to secure the rights to rebuild the Agricultural Park.

A Hard Left Turn - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6

She even went so far as to bribe an old friend who works in the city planning office. None of what she was doing made sense.

Why was it such a big deal?

It began to seem like she thought that since she was married to a cartel boss, she deserved special treatment. That being rich with a powerful husband afforded her the privilege to do as she pleased with little to no resistance.

Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Xquic

Because I mean, how dare someone go up against the wife of a cartel boss, right?

Emily: Thank you for meeting me.
EZ: Sure
Emily: Oh, no, I'm okay.
EZ: You're always shivering. You okay? That was rough today.
Emily: It was my fault. Miguel was right. It was a mistake to go to him.
EZ: Seemed pretty urgent.
Emily: That's why I wanted to see you. I know I have no right to ask you this.
EZ: Ask me what?
Emily: I need your help, EZ. I need a favor.
EZ: Okay.
Emily: This Agra Park project that Miguel and I are working on. There's a bidding process that we should've won, but our Chinese competitor, they bribed a clerk in city planning. They got inside information so they edged us out. I need -- fuck, I'm so sorry.
EZ: Just ask me, Em.
Emily: I need this to work, EZ. I need something to work. This project's all I have right now, and this asshole just undermined everything.
EZ: This what you're gonna tell Galindo?
Emily: Yes. That's why its a mistake to go to him. I can't tell Miguel.
EZ: Why? What's he gonna say?
Emily: It's not what he's gonna say. It's what he'll do. I just need to keep the other world out of this.
EZ: And what world am I in?
Emily: Hopefully, mine.
EZ: How'd you find out about the bribe?
Emily: A friend in city planning. She got suspicious. I just need somebody to talk to him. Tell him he has been found out; that we'll call the police. We'll check his phone, his email records. We just give him a chance to tell the truth. No charges. He walks away.
EZ: And if he doesn't?
Emily: Well, he's got to. He's just a clerk, EZ. He's not gonna risk going to jail.
EZ: I'll try.
Emily: It has to be done by tomorrow night.

Well, now we know that isn't the case. Emily's conversation with EZ offered some long-awaited insight to her motives as well as her character.

She's lonely. Miguel has been distracted, to say the least, she is estranged from her family, and her mother in law hates her.

Miguel rules Emily's entire life yet he seems to be missing in action for the most part.

She never goes anywhere without one of his bodyguards which makes her loneliness ironic since she is never alone.

Obviously, there are rules as to what she can and cannot do as the wife of a powerful crime lord, and Miguel proved that when she showed up to inform him of the Agra Park betrayal.

His dismissal was another blow to her already fragile psyche that only achieved to further fuel her desperation.

A Man With A Plan - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6

Emily lives in Miguel's shadow, but this project was hers. This project was something that could make her feel accomplished, make her feel important.

And now it's slipping away. Emily tried to keep Miguel's crime world separate from their real world, but she crossed a line herself.

She sacrificed her morals and chose to resort to criminal behavior to succeed. If she loses the Agra Park bid then it was all for nothing.

My Bad - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6

And that's how we come to the favor. Comments shared on the web give the impression that Emily is not a fan favorite and this episode is sure to intensify that.

Emily went to EZ because she knows that he has a big heart and he still cares about her.

But she put him at risk. Maybe if Marlin would have gone quietly into the night, but that's not what happened.

EZ didn't shoot Marlin, but their fight led to marlin accidentally shooting himself, so what happens now?

Marlin: Who is it?
EZ: Ezekiel Reyes. Can I talk to you?
Marlin: EZ Reyes, All valley pitcher. Marlin Buxer. I was a few years behind you. I played freshman ball.
EZ: Oh, right.
Marlin: Heard about that shit. You took a pretty hard left turn, huh?
EZ: Yeah, I guess so. You mind if I come in?
Marlin: Uh yeah, sure. My mom's in Punta Gorda with her friends. Ceramic class. That's where she makes all this tacky shit.
EZ: You live with your mom?
Miguel: I'm in-between places, really. Actually, I'm gonna put down a deposit on a condo next week — some new units off the canal.
EZ: Wow, things are going well for you, Marlin.
Marlin: Yeah, what do you need from me, EZ?
EZ: I just wanted to talk to you. About the Agricultural Park Project.
Marlin: Why? What the fuck does that have to do with you?
EZ: Come on, man. New car, new condo. That didn't happen on a clerk's paycheck.
Marlin: Okay. Um, I think you need to go, man.
EZ: We know the Chinese got to you. Probably made you an offer you couldn't refuse. Maybe they even threatened you. Cops are gonna pull your email and phone records, Marlin. Only one way you don't go to jail. Tell your boss the truth. You throw out the bid; it all stays internal. No one has to know.
Marlin: We know? You said we. Fuck, the next best bid. Galindo; Emily Thomas. Oh, Jesus Christ. You're doing this whole tough-guy biker shit for your old piece of ass. Dude, she is a cartel whore now. Whoa, whoa, whoa, what the fuck, man?
EZ: The only person I'm doing this for is you, Marlin. It's your ass on the line. Now get me your phone and your laptop.
Marlin: No, no, fuck you. You can't make me do that. Why don't you get out of my house?
EZ: Trust me, this isn't gonna go your way. Even a guy living in his mom's basement is smart enough to know that. Give me the tech. I just wanna look at it.
Marlin: Okay.
EZ: Shit.

I predict that this will draw EZ and Emily back together. EZ can't tell the M.C. because of their deal with Galindo.

Emily can't tell Miguel because the knowledge that she went to EZ for help could very well get him killed.

That is their secret now. It does help that EZ was wearing gloves so no fingerprints can get traced and that Marlin's death looks like a suicide.

But what if someone had seen EZ at Marlin's house and Ileana already expressed her concern about Marlin's safety when she met with Emily.

Regardless of whether Marlin miraculously disappears, or is revealed to have committed suicide, Ileana is going to be suspicious.

I know that many people aren't interested in a storyline involving EZ and Emily, but I am.

Don't Cross The M.C. - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6

I've kept an open mind where Emily is concerned, and there hasn't been very much focus on EZ this season.

The circumstances surrounding Marlin's death is going to change that. This is bad, but this is big.

Emily is going to have to deal with the fact that what she put in motion led to a man's death.

EZ Rider - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 6

While EZ will have to come to terms with his role in Marlin's death. This is going to be heavy.

Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Lahun Chan

I'm excited to learn how they're going to navigate their worlds with this developement.

Happy: I was in Berdoo yesterday. Told Packer I had some bounty hunter up my ass questioning an old job. Had to pull anything I booked through his charter, make copies.
EZ: He keeps files on that shit?
Happy: Yeah, coded.
Angel: Have to. A lot of pieces of pie to be cut. Keeps us honest.
Happy: This one is the info for your folks.
EZ: Five entries.
Angel: Whats this number mean? WU3459.
EZ: Western union.
Happy: The last four digits. I id'd the branch, Hermosillo. Sonora, Mexico.
EZ: Sonora? Galindo.
Happy: Back then, could've been Lobo Sonora too. There were more players.
Angel: Well, five payments is somebody who's obviously trying to avoid having a big number flagged.
Happy: Most likely.
EZ: This period of time, Galindo Senior was already under the DOJ's thumb. If he wanted to get anything done behind their backs, he'd have to hide it.
Angel: Bury it in household accounts.

I'm curious to see how they're going to communicate with each other with Emily's bodyguards never too far behind.

She can't use the excuse of needing meat from Felipe's butcher shop very often or that will raise suspicion.

Not that the problems faced by the M.C. aren't interesting, but it's exciting to get to delve into the troubles of the individual characters.

We know that Adelita is currently locked away, but we don't know how long that will last.

We know that Felipe is Miguel's father, but we're waiting patiently for everyone else to learn the shocking news.

How about that nod to Sons of Anarchy fans at the beginning of the episode?

Bishop: So big brother, how is he?
EZ: He's fucked up, but not broken. Somethings shifted.
Bishop: Keep him close.
EZ: Absolutely.

Angel shooting the two black crows making noise outside of his window was no doubt a message to SAMCRO fans to stop comparing the two shows.

Something that I am guilty of myself, but come on, it's hard not to. And it's not saying that one is better than the other, but they are part of the same world, so it's hard not to notice the similarities.

When will Felipe and Dita's secret be revealed?

Will Marlin's death draw Emily closer to EZ?

What is Potter going to do to Adelita?
