Hawkeye Targeting Hailee Steinfeld for Kate Bishop Role

Disney+ is pulling out the big guns as it brings as it preps series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for its forthcoming streaming service. 

Variety is reporting that Hailee Steinfeld has been offered the role of Kate Bishop on the series based on Jeremy Renner's character from the movie franchise. 

Bishop is a member of the Young Avengers, and also the person who becomes Hawkeye when Renner's character Clint Barton leaves the superhero mantle behind.

Steinfeld is in-demand right about now. She has a series regular role on Apple TV+ comedy series, Dickinson, in which she plays poet Emily Dickinson as she “audaciously explores the constraints of society, gender and family,” according to the official logline.

The latter is slated to launch with Apple's premium TV streaming tier later this year, but a firm launch date for Hawkeye has yet to be announced. 

The series is one of many TV series set in the MCU coming to Disney+. It joins Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If...?, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.

That's a lot of TV series, but the streamer clearly knows the value of the MCU brand, and using it to help drive up the subscriber base is a great idea. 

The movies have been dominating at the box office for several years, but it is possible that there will be some superhero fatigue depending on how the series are spaced out in relation to the movies.

What we do know is that Hawkeye is targeting a late 2021 launch, with Falcon and the Winter Soldier slated to be the first MCU series with a launch window of late 2020 being given.

Hawkeye will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame -- the conclusion to the infinity saga that changed the shape of the MCU forever. 

Launching on November 12, Disney+ will cost $6.99 per month, while a yearly subscription will clock in at $69.99.

All of the content will be ad-free, and the content will launch weekly as opposed to the binge model adopted by Netflix.
