HBO has finally set a premiere date for its adaptation of Watchmen.
The long-in-the-works superhero drama will hit the air Sunday, October 20 at 9/8c, just one week after Succession Season 2 wraps.
HBO’s adaptation is “set in an alternate history where ‘superheroes’ are treated as outlaws.”
The limited series promises to embrace the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

The cast includes Jean Smart (as Agent Blake) and Jeremy Irons (Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias) Don Johnson, Regina King, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith, and Adelynn Spoon.

Over on Apple TV+, the forthcoming streamer has nixed Bastards, a show that was given a straight to series order when it was announced, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series was set to star Richard Gere as a Vietnam veteran who developed a hankering for vigilante justice.
Based on the Israeli series Nevelot, Bastards was to follow “two elderly Vietnam vets and best friends who find their monotonous lives upended when a woman they both loved 50 years ago is killed by a car.
Their lifelong regrets and secrets collide with their resentment of today’s self-absorbed millennials, and an act of self-defense snowballs into a tragic series of events.”

While the series is dead in the water, the report states that executives did send notes to executive producers and co-writers Howard Gordon and Warren Leight asking them to zero in on the central friendship.
Leight parted ways when Gordon wanted to go the vigilante justice route, and Apple decided that it was best to let the potential series perish and moved on.
This is a surprising development, but a company like Apple likely wants everything to be well-received, and that's probably why it realized the project was not a good fit.
Over in the land of Empire, Deadline is reporting that some recurring players have scored promotions ahead of the sixth and final season.

Katlynn Simone, Meta Goldling, Wood Harris, and Mario will all be series regulars when the show returns later this month.
Simone plays Treasure, a new singer Cookie took under her wing. She was widely expected to return given the increased focus on the character.
Golding plays Teri, the love interest of Andre. This is a good vote of confidence because most of the women Andre gets close to wind up dead.
Hopefully Andre and Teri will get a happy ending.
Harris plays the villainous Damon, who tried to get close to Cookie on Empire Season 5, while Mario played singer Devon.
Meanwhile, Netflix has confirmed that it will be bringing some shows to New York Comic-Con in October.
There will be a panel for Lost In Space Season 2, which means the streamer has not forgotten about the series.
Big Mouth is also getting the Comic-Con treatment, while a brand new series titled Daybreak is getting the world premiere treatment.
