"We've been very good about listening to showrunner creators about when it's the right time to end the series."

The 100 will join Arrow and Supernatural as the shows the network is saying goodbye to during the 2019-20 TV season.

It's no surprise that the series is ending. There have been rumors for months, and the network expanding the seventh season to 16 episodes is the icing on the cake.

The series will end with 100 episodes. Not many shows make it that far in today's peak TV era, but the show has lasted this long thanks to the creative forces being able to reinvigorate the show every year.

The 100 Season 6 took fans to a whole new planet with a new and engaging adventure. It's been hailed as the best season of the series in years, so it's clear the fanbase is still as vocal as ever.

The CW renewed The 100 earlier this year, giving the series a rare early renewal.

On the ratings front, the series is showing its age, with The 100 Season 6 averaging 0.7 million total viewers and a 0.2 rating among adults 18-49.

However, The CW bases renewal decisions on a variety of factors and looks at the multi-platform performance of a show as a measure of success.

As things stand, The 100 Season 6 concludes on Tuesday, but there's no word yet on when the final season will get underway.

It's possible that the longer than usual episode order means the show could return earlier than usual, but the network will confirm the plans down the line.

The 100 Quotes

Lexa: My fight is over.
Clarke: No, I won't accept that.
Lexa: You were right, Clarke. Life is about more than just surviving.
Clarke: In peace may you leave the shore. In love may you find the next. Safe passage on your travels until our final journey on the ground... May we meet again.

Here we go again. Bellamy, if you can hear me, if you're alive, it's been 2,199 days since Praimfaya. I don't know why I still do this every day. Maybe it's my way of staying sane, not forgetting who I am. Who I was. It's been safe for you to come down for over a year now. Why haven't you? The bunker's gone silent, too. We tried to get them out for awhile, but there was too much rubble. I haven't made contact with them either. Anyway, I still have hope. Tell Raven to aim for the one spot of green, and you'll find me. The rest of the planet from what I've seen basically sucks, so... Never mind. I see you.
