Viewers will spend more time with Ziva David during NCIS Season 17 than initially planned.
TV Line is reporting that the actress will appear in at least two more episodes beyond NCIS Season 17 Episode 1 -- initially announced as the only episode in which Ziva star, Cote de Pablo, would appear.
This is excellent news for NCIS Fanatics who have been clamoring for more Ziva since she was revealed to have been killed off-screen several years before.
If you watch NCIS online, you know that NCIS Season 16 featured several teases that seemed to suggest Ziva could still be alive before pulling the curtain back to reveal a very much alive Ziva in the season finale.
It was undoubtedly a wild twist, especially when you consider the fact that de Pablo did not exactly depart the series on the best of terms with CBS.
Upon her return, Ziva told Gibbs that he was in danger and that there was no time for "pleasantries."
That came as a huge shock to Gibbs, who was visibly stunned. It also seemingly suggested that the fan theory that Gibbs knew she was still alive was well was truly wrong.
As things stand, we need to wait for NCIS Season 17 Episode 1 -- airing Tuesday, September 24 at 8/7c to find out what's going on.
There's no word on whether Ziva's love interest, Tony, played by Michael Weatherly will also be making a comeback to reignite Tiva.
Weatherly appears on fellow CBS series Bull, so it shouldn't be too difficult to bring him back to his old stomping grounds for an episode or two.
It's possible that viewers will not learn about a potential return for Weatherly until it plays out on-screen in a similar vein to the way de Pablo's return played out.
There's no telling what the future holds for David's involvement with the series. But fans will surely be hoping that this short-term return could lead to something more significant down the line.
However, many would probably be ecstatic with Ziva getting the ending she deserves.
She was such a huge part of the series for so long, and many felt like her original ending was botched.

Is more Ziva a good thing?
