American Horror Story's ninth season is going to look completely different from previous seasons.
The latest big change comes in the form of Sarah Paulson who likely not be appearing on American Horror Story: 1984 in any capacity.
Despite appearing on three episodes of American Horror Story Season 1, Paulson was an instant favorite with fans, and she went on to have a bigger role on seasons 2 through 8.
A cameo is entirely possible for Paulson, but the series will not feel the same without the actress having a big part.
The news comes months after it was revealed that Evan Peters would be sitting out of American Horror Story: 1984, meaning two fan-favorites are out.
Despite some of the latter seasons struggling to find the success of the initial seasons, Paulson and Peters have been the two constants.
It will be exciting to see whether this takes a dent in the ratings, or if viewers will welcome the new cast with open arms.
Little is actually known about the upcoming season, aside from the fact that it will be set in 1984.
The first teaser released seemed to suggest that it will be a homage to classic slasher movies.
The only returning cast member currently announced is Emma Roberts, who previously appeared in Coven, Freak Show, Cult, and Apocalypse.
Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy is a new addition and will play the boyfriend of Roberts' character.
FX recently confirmed that American Horror Story: 1984 will launch Wednesday, September 18 at 10/9c.
