Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6 Review: I Hope You Like Missionary

at .

Eve is giving Villanelle too much power.

Eve's life took a nosedive during Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6 after she reenlisted Villanelle's help on the Peel case.

Once a happily married woman, Eve is now on a very dark path.

Eve is Confused - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

Playing into Villanelle's hands is looking less enticing.

Villanelle is eating it up, but Eve has completely lost herself.

Konstantin Looks Surprised - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

Yes, Aaron Peel is a pretty bad guy, but aren't there trained agents within MI6 who work with people like that all the time?

It's hard to understand the reasoning behind Eve's plans to use Villanelle as an undercover agent.

Even more confounding, if I'm off base in my theory about Eve and Villanelle getting groomed for something, is why Carolyn goes along with Eve's insane ideas.

There can't possibly be any other reason than as I suspect Carolyn, Konstantin, and maybe The Twelve have big plans for Eve and Villanelle.

Villanelle is Annoyed - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

But Villanelle doesn't take very well to manipulation. And she's a loose cannon.

She's intent on making Eve very vulnerable so that she's more likely to need her help, and it's working.

Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Smell Ya Later

Eve's world is crumbling down around her, and for some odd reason, the life raft she's clinging to is a diagnosed psychopath.

But no matter how many times Eve hears from people that getting close to Villanelle will kill her, she inches forward.

Husband and Wife - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

Niko arrived home after his latest brush with Villanelle a changed man.

He finally saw what has been attracting Eve, and since she appears to be enjoying getting treated like a piece of crap, he jumped right onto that bandwagon.

Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Desperate Times

Eve is so lost she didn't even recognize that Niko wasn't playing around. He was genuinely angry and the idea of hurting her just a little bit so she could feel a bit of what he's feeling had to be on his mind.

Instead, Eve got incredibly turned on by it. That sickened Niko to his very core.

An Unhappy Niko - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

It never dawned on me that Niko would leave Eve that quickly, but the realization your wife is toying with a psychopath and assassin has to cut pretty deep.

Eve: Niko! Oh my God. What are you doing out there?
Niko: She came to see me. I know what you did. I know you stabbed her.
Eve: You can't believe her. She's a liar.
Niko: I know, but I do believe her.
Eve: I can explain.
Niko: Can you? Did you like it? Do you like all of this? Does it excite you? What do you want from me, Eve? Do you want me to love you, or do you want me to frighten you?

Niko didn't like that nearly as much as Eve did, and he put an end to their marriage right then and there.

Taking up with Gemma wasn't a surprise, but we have to remember that Niko can be pretty oblivious. He didn't fully grasp what was happening with his wife for too long, so he probably doesn't even get Gemma's insane attraction to him.

Eve's not going to kill Gemma, but she did some damage to her manicure set before she starting rifling through her bras. Who has that many bras?

Eve: What are YOU doing, Niko?
Niko: Gemma has a sofa-bed, I'm sleeping downst...
Eve: That's not what I asked.
Niko: I'd like you to apologize.
Gemma: No, really, it's fine.
Niko: Gemma is my friend. You remember friends, don't you? There's nothing going on here.
Eve: You're right. There's NOTHING going on here. [to Gemma] I hope you like the missionary position.
Gemma: I do, actually.
Eve: [to Niko] You'll be happy here.
Niko: I dread to think about where you'll be happy, Eve.

Didn't it seem like Eve just gave up the one thing in her life that she should be clinging to harder than any other?

Working the Case - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

So Eve is going to cling to Villanelle.

Villanelle, who doesn't like to be challenged, isn't sitting back and allowing the MI6 agent boss her around, though. She's only doing what she's doing because of her obsession with Eve.

But she also reminds Eve that it's not so much of an obsession that Eve gets a free pass, either.

Don't speak to me like that, Eve. I like you, but I don't like you that much. Don't forget, the only thing that makes you interesting is me.

Villanelle

As Eve uses feeble attempts to stand up for herself, she's getting railroaded by everyone around her. Carolyn appears to be using her, and Villanelle is only appeasing Eve because it suits her.

Amber and Aaron - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

Getting close to Amber to find her way to Aaron worked very well, but not without a casualty on the way.

Not even Carolyn gives a hoot about Villanelle killing someone as they march onward toward the big fish, Aaron, but Eve doesn't find that nearly as disturbing as she should find it.

The way Villanelle transformed herself into "Billie" should have been a reason for Eve to turn away from her attraction to the woman, but it only endeared her even more to Villanelle.

It was as if Villanelle passing off her Eve's life as her own in the AA meeting appealed to Eve. Even as she chastised Villanelle for not taking the case seriously, she seemed pleased that Villanelle understood her.

Most of the time, most days, I feel nothing. I don't feel anything. It is so boring. I wake up and I think, again, really? I have to do this again? And what I really don't understand is how come everyone else isn't screaming with, with boredom, too, and I try to find ways to make myself feel something. More, and more, and more, but it doesn't make any difference. No matter what I do, I don't feel anything. I hurt myself; it doesn't hurt. I buy what I want; I don't want it. I do what I like; I don't like it. I'm just so bored.

Villanelle

At the same time, Villanelle felt seen for the first time when she finally did let go in the group session. She played that very well, whether she meant it or if she said only what she thought they needed to hear.

Meet Billie - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

But now we need to worry about Aaron.

First of all, his relationship with his sister is beyond childish, which is fine when you're alone, but with a dinner guest, you'd think a businessman like him would be more, I don't know, careful.

Killing Eve's Kim Bodnia on Konstantin's Return, Relationship with Villanelle & More

Their whole "a little bit of Bisto" thing made me groan with laughter. My sister and I have some strange things between us, but we know when to let them out!

Villanelle had a well-prepared backstory and had received a lot of information, but I found it hard to believe that Eve's packet (which was unread) really had all of the information in it that Villanelle would have needed for a conversation about her philosophy degrees.

And Eve found the information in the van too quickly. It seemed like I missed something along the way. Maybe I did.

Those Kids are Weird - Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6

But it all worked out in the end because Villanelle smacked the crap out of Aaron's head with a philosophy book when she realized he was nothing but a bully.

Aaron let her get out of the house alive, and that leads me to believe he liked the pushback. He and Villanelle might be more alike than Eve bargained.

Why do you think Eve is putting so much faith into Villanelle?
