Sarah Drew might be staging a permanent return to the small screen.

The former Grey's Anatomy star has been added to the cast of The Republic of Sarah.

Sarah Drew Attends Movie Premiere

The potential series follows a small New Hampshire town is thrust onto the world stage when the discovery of a valuable resource within its borders compels the residents to declare themselves an independent nation.

It puts an unlikely young mayor and her cabinet of inexperienced locals on the path of running a brand-new country.

According to Deadline, Drew’s character is described as “the titular beating heart of The Republic of Sarah."

"She’s a quintessential New Englander: sharply intelligent, fiercely loyal, and always willing to lend a hand."

"She’s hesitant to step into the spotlight at first, but her quiet strength and innate leadership begin to flourish after external forces threaten her community and her way of life.”

Carlos Leal and Jonathan Slavin are also attached to star in the project which will be penned by Elementary producer Jeffrey Paul King.

This marks the second CBS drama pilot Drew has booked since her departure from Grey's Anatomy.

Last season, she was added to the cast of the Cagney and Lacey reboot. However, the pilot did not come in as well as expected, and CBS opted to shelve it instead of pressing on with a series order.

Drew was a fan-favorite on Grey's Anatomy for nine years, but she was written out of the series in May 2018, months after it was revealed that she was being let go alongside co-star Jessica Capshaw.
