Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 15 Review: I Need to Find My Frenemy

at .

Open communication and decision making turned out to be the drive behind the episode this time around.

Everyone was avoiding a choice or an issue, and it was only when they stopped doing that that things improved for them for the better. In most cases at least, while in others it became more of an elaborate show.

What else would you call a three-way date to determine who Rebecca will get to be with?

Rebecca in Vegas - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 15

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 15, Rebecca couldn't choose between Nathaniel or Josh or Greg.so instead, she chose to help track down Audra.

They all stay back though, trying to figure this out once and for all, and even manage to come up with a possible scenario to win it all.

Meanwhile, Paula tries to fit in at her new job even if that includes owning really expensive clothes that she can't afford. Valencia tries to work out her relationship with Beth now that marriage is (or isn't) on the table for them.

And Heather deals with Hector relying on her like he would his mother, which doesn't sit well with her. "I Need to Find My Frenemy," written by Alden Derck & Aline Brosh McKenna, explored what having conversations can do for relationships of all kinds.

There is this automatic reaction where people first try to avoid having tough discussions, only for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to show the success that comes from talking.

It also paved the way for some emotions being discussed by the characters, which is always a lovely addition to any episode.

Rebecca and Audra (and the underlying issue)

With the show wrapping up, getting to check in with familiar characters is never a bad idea. Especially characters like Audra Levine, someone that influenced Rebecca's state of mind in the very beginning when she was truly struggling.

Now they are both in different points in their lives, and sometimes one person needs to hit rock bottom, so having Audra be that person was interesting.

It was also probably refreshing to have Rebecca at a point where she is more aware of her decisions and feelings, in a healthier place where she doesn't spiral when up against Audra.

And then Audra was more honest than we've probably ever seen her with Rebecca. It isn't shocking that she is going through a lot, but it is helpful that she is admitting it to herself and to someone she probably would have never confided in before.

Sometimes you can be most honest with someone who you don't usually see in your everyday life.

The hope here is that Rebecca takes away from this experience a way to approach her current dilemma. It is a bit frustrating for it to be as complicated as it is if only based on the assumption that she must know how she feels for some of the choices.

Josh: Sir!
Nathaniel: Hey buddy.
Josh: I'm going to need you to stand down.
Nathaniel: Literally what do you mean?

Like the Josh portion was a bit odd, she did think she liked him for a hot second, but she was able to differentiate that from what she felt for Greg and Nathaniel.

So shouldn't he already be out of the running?

Him declaring his love for Rebecca fell so flat for them, her reaction didn't reflect the happiness that one would expect at news like that. Yes, she is confused, but there has to be a way to narrow the choices down a little.

This seems to be the way to do it because Josh never seemed like he was in the running, so why waste time on that?

It also comes off as if Rebecca has no factors that help her distinguish Greg and Nathaniel from one another, which might mean she isn't ready to make this choice?

As someone who loves both Greg and Nathaniel for her, if she isn't getting pulled in a direction then maybe now is not the time to make that decision.

The Three Way Plan

On the flip side, the guys are just as confused as Rebecca seems to be.

It is refreshing to see all of the guys fully committed to a girl, in a strange way being so intuned with emotions can be a foreign way to approach a love triangle these days.

Dude, I have known you for most of your life, and I've never seen you as happy as when you are with Rebecca.

White Josh

But Josh, Greg, and Nathaniel are all about Rebecca and are even willing to go on a single date with her to help the decision along.

In a way that could be a good idea, Rebecca needs to see where she is at with each of them.

She can't decide if she is avoiding spending time with them all too much right now, it doesn't allow her to narrow down their differences or even a gut feeling that could aid her in this decision.

An Old Nemesis - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

But this obviously can also blow up in all of their faces just as quickly.

There is a chance that Rebecca won't be able to decide or that someone shares a moment with her and thinks they belong together.

All three of them are in a much healthier place but will their relationships with one another and with Rebecca stay the same after all this? In this scenario, the priority has to be that no one ends up losing a bond they may have had because of this threeway dating.

Wait, I can propose?!

Valencia

Honestly, it is that point where the relationships have to be decided. Rebecca has been floating around Greg and Nathaniel (and Josh) for a while, and it is entertaining, but it has to be as tiring for the characters as it is for us.

It can only go on for so long, and it is about time that a final decision was made so Rebecca could move on. Even if she doesn't choose anyone, that is still a choice, and she deserves to make it and finally stop worrying about this.

With the show wrapping up, this seems to be the biggest decision that has yet to be made and starting to wrap that up might allow for Rebecca to finally just enjoy being happy.

Whether it is with someone or by herself, she deserves that screentime of just feeling comfortable without the drama catching up with her again in her love life.

What did you think of the episode? Did the guys propose a good way to figure this whole love square stuff out? Which date are you most excited to see?

Are you slightly over all the love triangle type situations that can't be solved? Or are you all in? Whose team are you on right now?

Do you think we will get to see Valencia propose soon? How much do you love Paula's success after she put in all the hard work?
