Kate Kane's father will be a big part of The CW's Batwoman if it goes to series.

The pilot has added Dougray Scott (Fear the Walking Dead, Hemlock Grove) to its cast.

He is on board to play Jacob Kane.

Dougray Scott Attends Premiere

Jacob is a former military colonel who leads Gotham’s private security firm The Crows.

He “has made it his mission to protect his city better than the Dark Knight ever could,” per the official character description.

“But it’s only a matter of time before his unwavering disdain for vigilantes puts him at odds with Gotham’s new caped crusader…who also happens to be his own daughter (played by Ruby Rose).”

It's certainly a convincing hook and one that will surely get viewers talking.

There's a good chance Jacob will have no idea that Kate is the one who is trying to keep the mean streets of Gotham City safe.

Scott joins a cast that also includes Rachel Skarsten (Reign), Meagan Tandy (Teen Wolf), Camrus Johnson (Marvel’s Luke Cage) and Nicole Kang (YOU).

Aside from the casting news, it has been revealed that David Nutter is stepping aside as director.

There's no reason given for this, but we do know that Marcos Siega is stepping in to fill the void. There's no word yet about whether Nutter could return if the show gets a series order.

"Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence," reads the official logline for the series.

"But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope."

Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) is attached to write the project and will executive-produce alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns.

Ruby Rose as Batwoman - Arrow

Given that Kate Kane was introduced during The CW's 2018 Arrowverse crossover, it's highly likely that the series will be ordered.

The superhero shows have been solid performers in the ratings for The CW over the years, so it makes sense to add another into the mix.

The CW currently has Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning on the superhero front.

Arrow Cropped

With the network expanding to six nights of programming this season, it leaves a lot of space for more shows.
