ABC has unveiled four more photos from The Conners, the highly anticipated spin-off of Roseanne.
Of the four, however, there's one that looks rather telling.
By that, we mean that it could be linked to Roseanne Barr's omission.
Have a look below:
Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) looks to be telling Dan (John Goodman), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), and Becky (Lecy Goranson) some shocking news.
Everyone looks super worried, and it would be bizarre to not have Roseanne's departure addressed.
Let's just say a lot of people will be tuning into The Conners Season 1 Episode 1 to find out just how the embattled star's exit will come about.
As previously reported, Barr will have nothing to do with the new series, and that was allegedly one of the reasons for the series landing an order.
Roseanne was canceled in May despite being one of the most-watched series on all of TV. That's why it was surprising ABC swung the ax.
It showed that ethics really do come above business. In case you've been living under a rock, we'll quickly run down what actually went down.
Roseanne shared a racist tweet in which she compared former Obama aide, Valerie Jarrett, to an ape. What followed was a whole lot of backlash as Barr made several attempts to take her comments back, even going as far as blaming Ambien.
But the damage was done, and the show was canceled with ABC noting that Roseanne's "Abhorrent" tweet was to blame.
However, talk of a spin-off quickly kicked off, and ABC announced it had placed a series order in June for a fall launch.
“The Conners stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter, and love. The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago,” ABC shared in a statement of the new series.
In support of their new series, cast members John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman said, in a joint statement:
“We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and its clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts but in the hearts and homes of our audience.
"We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today.
"We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”
