Riverdale Season 3 Poster: Let the Games Begin!

at .

We're just a few weeks away from the return of Riverdale, and The CW has dropped the official poster for teen soap's third season.

What it teases is the key players posing for a photo opportunity, and it sure looks like things are getting darker in the quiet but deadly little town of Riverdale.

Have a look below.

Riverdale Season 3 Poster

The biggest takeaway from the poster may well be that this will be the season of Archie. It's unclear whether his head being considerably bigger than the other characters was intentional or just an oversight.

Still, it's a huge thing to miss.

At the bottom of the poster, we have an animal skull seemingly wrapping itself around the teenagers, likely setting up the big mystery.

The previous two trailers have confirmed there will be a cult plot thrown in, and the most recent of which showed someone wearing an animal mask.

KJ Apa Attends Event

Could that be the cult leader? We'll need to tune in to find out.

In any case, the "Let The Games Begin" tagline certainly makes it seem like the teenagers are ready to take down whichever threat is ready to cause problems for them.

With Vanessa Morgan and Charles Melton promoted to series regulars, they are also present in the poster.

Riverdale is one of many shows that struggles to service all of the characters. It remains to be seen whether that will be addressed in the coming episodes.

When Riverdale Season 3 debuts, Archie will be on trial for murder following his arrest on Riverdale Season 2 Episode 22

If you watch Riverdale online, you know that Hiram Lodge orchestrated this because Archie admitted that he was no longer helping the villain with his plans.

What are your thoughts on the poster?

Riverdale Quotes

Cheryl: Well, well, well. Stop the presses! The Riverdale rag finally reported a story accurately. Not only is there going to some hideous janky parade snaking its way through town, you four are the architects of this outrage.
Veronica: What’s your problem, Cheryl?
Cheryl: My problem, Veronica, is that the Fourth of July is a day of tragedy for Riverdale. Not celebration. Or have you forgotten what happened to my poor brother Jason?
Betty: Cheryl, Riverdale hasn’t held a parade out of respect for what happened to your brother in like years. It’s time.
Jughead: I mean, you don’t have to come.
Cheryl: Oh, I’ll be there, Insufferable Smurf. Front and center. With a sign of protest in one hand and a horn of compressed air to silence any revelry in the other.

Kevin: Okay, Veronica, I’m obsessed with everything that just happened.
Veronica: Thank you! It helps to be off-book and in full costume.
Betty: Don’t be so modest, you are the literally embodiment of Chris. Never has a role been perfectly typecast.
Archie: Betty!
Veronica: What was that, Betty?
Betty: I mean think about it: Spoiled rich girl, check. Major daddy issues, check. Bad to the bone, trying to control everyone around her, including her boyfriend and best friend. Check, check, check.
