Gotham Season 4 Episode 21 Review: One Bad Day

Bullock saved the city from near destruction on Gotham Season 4 Episode 21, but the citizens of Gotham can't breathe a sigh of relief just yet.
I'm not exactly sure how any of this will play out as we head towards the season finale because none of it even makes sense.
Jeremiah wasn't as smart or clever as he thought he was when someone as lucky as Bullock was able to disable the bomb that was going to take down Gotham.
I do not even understand how all of his plans to destroy Gotham came together so quickly. One minute he was a nutcase in a bunker maze, the next minute he has grandiose plans and enormous bombs planted all over the city.
And let's not forget the elaborate plans to turn the warehouse into a funhouse to torture Bruce Wayne.
Jeremiah's been quite busy with nary one eyebrow from anyone raised anywhere.
It all begs the question as to whether he was always the man behind the scenes -- Jerome's puppet master -- or if he's just newly insane?
It would make more sense if he was always insane and planning this rather than just recently insane and plotted all this chaos in only a couple of weeks.
Jeremiah is good, but no one is that good.
I almost forgot about R'as al Ghul who has apparently been lurking around Gotham watching the goings-on. What I don't get is that if he wanted to destroy Gotham so badly, why wait for Jeremiah (or even Jerome) to fail? Why not intervene earlier?
There are so many holes in this overall story that it's hard to keep track of what's really going on.
And let's not forget about the merry-go-round of the same storylines. Mass bombing? Been there, done that. Lee leaving Gotham because of Jim? How many times have we gone down that road?
What amazes me is how Jerome and Jeremiah were both able to take control of Gotham in such a short amount of time when Penguin, who has a lot more resources and longevity in Gotham, still fails time after time.
I know I've said it before, but it's frustrating to watch Penguin fail again and again. He's such a delight to watch; I wish there were more stability to his character instead of this continued bouncing around. He's a powerhouse one minute and a nothing the next. It's exhausting.

The same can be said for Barbara. Only a few episodes ago she was on her way to becoming Queen of Gotham, and it was yanked from her because -- well, I'm not really sure of why that happened.
All I know is that Ra's al Ghul is a fair weather friend. It seems he's going with whoever is most popular at the moment.
Everyone's obsession with Bruce is also mind-boggling. While I never quite understood Jerome's fascination with Bruce -- at least it was lots of fun. Jeremiah going after Bruce makes no sense and seems more of a forced relationship than anything else.
There's supposed to be a connection between The Joker (if that's who Jeremiah is) and Bruce, so the Gotham writers are trying to make it so, but it feels like they're shoving it down our throats with no rhyme or reason.
But that's Gotham for you. There's no rhyme or reason to anything most of the time. Like Theo Galavan. Remember him and how those guys came from wherever to capture Bruce for their ceremony? Where did that story go? What was the point?
What was fun about that was the villains working together with Jim to take down the crazy Theo Galavan and his weird priests. Remember all of them walking down the street, guns in hand?

I'd love to see the real villains of Gotham work together again to take down Jeremiah and Ra's al Ghul.
Penguin tried to make that happen (without Jim), but it didn't turn out quite as he hoped. He looked like a fool again and was kicked out of the in crowd when the gang got back to the Sirens. Not even Butch was willing to stand behind Penguin.
Ed and Lee had planned on being the heroes, but Jim got in the way. I knew there was going to be some kind of love triangle between Ed, Jim, and Lee. Although it's not full blown, it's still there.
I would not be surprised if Ed kills Lee out of jealous rage from seeing Jim and Lee's last interaction. It sort of reminds me of Mario losing his mind with jealousy before Jim killed him. Again -- regurgitated storylines.
It's all quite boring and predictable.
At least we finally got to see a serious kiss between Selina and Bruce.

One more thought about Jeremiah before I hand it over to you. Although Jeremiah showing up at Wayne Manor just at the right moment and shooting Selina was a bit of a surprise, I can't imagine that CatGirl is going to succumb to her wounds.
She's going to survive just like Alfred did last season when Bruce stabbed him at Ra's al Ghul's urging.
How the season will end is anyone's guess. Will Gotham end up annihilated? Will we lose some principal Gotham characters? Will we even see a Gotham Season 4?
