American Idol has not been the big performer in the ratings ABC was probably hoping for.
There was some good news for the show on Sunday night. It secured 8 million viewers and a 1.8 rating, which is the show's second-highest ratings since moving to ABC.
With a stronger lead-in, Deception swelled 33 percent to 3.7 million viewers and a 0.8 rating.
CBS: Instinct (7 million/0.6 rating) and Madam Secretary (6 million/0.6 rating) were stable, while NCIS: Los Angeles (7.5 million/0.7 rating) matched its series low.
Fox: The Simpsons (2.4 million/0.9 rating) was steady, while Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2 million/0.9 rating), Family Guy (2.3 million/1.0 rating) and Last Man on Earth (1.8 million/0.7 rating) were both up.
NBC: Little Big Shots (6 million/0.8 rating) and Genius Junior (3.7 million/0.6 rating) were both steady, but Timeless (2.6 million/0.6 rating) inched up a tenth.
