Suits may be saying goodbye to some of its most loved characters later this year, but it looks set to give some of the recurring players more time to shine.
Per TV Line, Amanda Schull has been promoted to series regular for the recently announced Suits Season 8 which will be the first without Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams.
Schull has recurred as Katrina Bennett since Suits Season 2 and quickly cemented herself as a favorite with fans.
“Amanda Schull and Katrina Bennett have been a part of the Suits extended family for years, and I am very excited to welcome them both into our immediate family,” showrunner Aaron Korsh said in a statement of the promotion.
“Katrina will continue her journey on the road to senior partnership while learning some hard new lessons throughout the course of the season.”
Schull has been pulling double duty on Suits and Syfy drama series 12 Monkeys over the last few years, but the latter is scheduled to come to an end later this year.
It's a transitional time for Suits with Markle and Adams' looming departures. The duo will appear in the final six episodes of Suits Season 7 which kick off Wednesday, March 28 on USA Network.
Their final episodes will debut as a two-hour event on Wednesday, April 25.
Helping to fill the void in Suits Season 8 is Grey's Anatomy veteran, Katherine Heigl who has landed the series regular role of Samantha Wheeler, a new partner at Pearson Specter Litt.
Will she become the firm's biggest friend or biggest enemy?
Time will tell.
