Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 5 Review: Greenbacks

That was quite the surprising episode, right?

On Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 5, we got some much-needed insight into the character of Ivy, and it helped confirm that she is very likely to be the person who kicked off the whole curse in the first place.

Saving Her Kingdom - Once Upon a Time

The inciting moment came at the close of the hour when Ivy confirmed she was fully aware that she was Drizella and that she had been pulling strings all along. It was a thrilling twist because Victoria is strutting around Hyperion Heights thinking she is the one in power.

The truth is, her daughter Drizella is the one in charge, and I cannot wait to see what she's really up to. Knowing Drizella is playing everyone, it's not crystal clear she planted the picture for Roni to find, and that's a good thing.

It's about time Roni, Rogers, and Henry got closer to the truth. The reason I'm discounting Weaver is that there's a genuine possibility he already knows who he is after the events of Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 4

It makes sense now that Drizella would want to keep Henry close to her. That way, if they find themselves romantically linked, she would always know what he's up to, and that's not a bad thing.

Ivy Smiles - Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 4

As far as we know, she does not know Henry very well, so she's probably blissfully unaware of just how resourceful he can be. That said, I would not like to be Drizella when the curse inevitably breaks, and Regina goes to war with her.

Despite Victoria being one of the rudest people alive, could she turn into someone good if she learns the true extent of her daughter's deception? It's difficult to imagine, but the show did successfully pull the rug from under me with the Drizella reveal.

Victoria is not a nice person, and that's likely why Drizella thought the residents of Hyperion Heights would buy into the whole "charade." The way Victoria increased the rent for Sabine and Jacinda was wicked.

It served as a tired old trope to get Sabine and Jacinda to decide they would need to make their own happy ending. I'm not really buying into the whole notion that the beignets will make them the richest women in Hyperion Heights, either.

Trick or Treat - Once Upon a Time

I laughed out loud at the way Jacinda lashed out at Sabine after the fire. It was mean-spirited and was not the way you act to someone you care so deeply about. Sabine was trying her best to give them a fresh start to be able to tackle any rent increases Victoria Belfrey throws their way.

For once, I agreed with Lucy. The kid has become tiring because all she seems to do is complain about people remembering who they really are. While she's probably going to garner some traction now that the picture is out there, she needs to dial it back.

Drizella will do something wicked if she finds out that Lucy still knows the truth. That, of course, is assuming she does not know the kid knows the truth. That would be a slightly sick way to go about things.

Princess Tiana's backstory was actually somewhat interesting. I was not sold at first, but the whole story proved she does not need a Prince to be a hero, and I can't wait to see her go up against Facilier.

A Faux Prince - Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 5

Now that she's given him the power he wants, he's going to make her life a living hell. What was great about her story was the twist it put on the story. I did not expect the faux Prince to turn into a frog and disappear into the night with his love.

There was not nearly enough from Rogers. That character is actually emerging as one of the best, and I cannot wait to see what happens when he inevitably catches up with Eloise. The tattoo on the neighborhood drunk was sketchy.

I can't help but imagine someone wanted Rogers to be the one to find it. What will happen next? I'm very intrigued.

"Greenbacks" was another solid episode of Once Upon a Time Season 7. There have been some rough points in this rebooted version of the show, but it is finally finding its footing, and I cannot wait to see how the rest of the season plays out.

Once Upon a Time Season 7 Episode 5 Quotes

Queen: We have no choice, Tiana. We may have to sell the castle.
Tiana: I thought my life would be filled with romance.

The Princess is here to see me, not you lot. That's right. Scurry off, unless you'd rather slither or hop.
