The nightmare of Miranda's death may be gone, but something much worse took its place.
If I had a raven following me around, I'd be as spooked out about it as Riggs was on Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 7.
Even though it probably wasn't the same raven, it represented the same thing: Riggs' self-torture over his father's death.
Riggs' dad was one bad dude, and as much as he deserved what he got, it was still a horrible thing for a young Riggs to witness.
We don't know what the aftermath was after the shooting, where Riggs ended up or any other details, but the shooting stuck with him through the years, as one would expect it would.
It wasn't completely clear what triggered the nightmares, but I would imagine it was the return of his friend on Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 6.
The nightmares were brutal, and it was understandable that Riggs wasn't able to get a good night's sleep because of them. Dr. Cahill wasn't any help, only because she wanted Riggs to talk and Riggs, as usual, had no interest in opening up.
He thought pills would make the nightmares go away, but Cahill wasn't budging on that front.
It wasn't until that last nightmare when he could've shot his father to end the torment, but instead opted to go the other route by pointing the gun at himself that Riggs decided talking to Cahill might be the right thing to do.
And it's about time. Riggs should know by now that he can't handle all these emotional issues by himself. Dr. Cahill is there for a reason, and he needs to take advantage of her services.
His need to do himself in seems to go deeper than just losing Miranda. He may have been wanting to kill himself since he was a child.
Not sleeping or having disturbed sleep is a nightmare in itself. Things start to fold in on themselves and reality starts taking a backseat. Riggs experienced this when he was in the cellar trying to save Austin.
How Riggs was even able to do his job with his dad's voice rumbling around in his head was a miracle.
I still wish Riggs would open up to Roger at least a little bit. Only telling Roger he was having nightmares wasn't a step in the right direction. I get that it's difficult for him, but Roger deserves more from his partner because they're supposed to be more than partners — they're supposed to be friends.
At least he's about to open up to somebody though. Maybe after his talk with Cahill, he'll share more with Roger. It would be refreshing to see that happen.
Roger had his own sleeping issues this hour being kept awake all night by Trish's buzzing phone. I'm with Roger on this one.
Scottie Pippen may be terrified of public speaking and may have been looking for guidance from Trish, but why was he texting her at all hours of the night?
I don't mean to be, well, mean, but Scottie Pippen has a reputation with women, and it's not a very good one. And Trish is a beautiful woman so it wouldn't surprise me at all if Pippen tried to make a play for her.
I know it's not in Trish's character to ever cheat on Roger, but she did go overboard. Giggling over texts sent by a mysterious man is something to be concerned about.
It's not so much a matter of trust, but what's appropriate. Trish was probably flattered by the attention, and the kissing emojis were probably meant to be harmless, but again, it's Scottie Pippen.
Even if it wasn't a famous basketball player doing the texting, I still feel Trish crossed the line. If Roger was engaging in that type of behavior would Trish be so forgiving?
Maybe it's a California thing.
I haven't been a big fan of Bowman, but I think I'm starting to warm up to him. Bowman and Bailey worked well together, and it was extra sweet how Bailey tried to make him feel better about punching a dolphin instead of a shark.
She could have just let the whole thing go when he fessed up, but she cared enough about her partner to take time out of her day to find cases where dolphins weren't the sweet and innocent creatures we think they are.
Could a romance be in the works? If so, where would that leave Scorsese?
What do you guys think?
Did you like "Birdwatching"? Was Roger right to be concerned about Trish's phone relationship with Scottie Pippen?
Will Riggs ever sleep again? Will he ever open up to Roger?
