Absentia: Stana Katic Thriller Finds Home at Amazon

Absentia finally has a U.S. home!

According to Deadline, Amazon has acquired the rights to distribute the series in multiple territories including the U.S., U.K., Australia, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Austria, Netherlands, Singapore and South Korea, and Turkey.

The series will debut online in those territories in 2018, while Amazon will also host the series in countries in which the series has already aired on broadcast TV.

The series tells the story of FBI agent Emily Byrne (Stana Katic) who, while hunting one of Boston’s biggest serial killers, disappears and is declared dead.

Six years later, she is found in a cabin in the woods, with no memory of the years she was missing.

Returning home, she finds out that her husband (Patrick Heusinger) has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman.

As if that was not bad enough, she soon finds herself implicated in a new series of murders. The series represents Stana Katic's first series regular role after her lengthy stint on ABC's Castle.

The show is executive produced and directed by Oded Ruskin, alongside executive producers Katic, Julie Glucksman, Matt Cirulnick, and Maria Feldman.
