Carrie may have had a rough time of it during Homeland Season 6, but could the latest two additions to the cast be a ray of hope for the fate of the world?
According to TV Line, Morgan Spector has landed the series regular role of Dante Allen, who is an old friend of Carrie's who is brought into the fold when President Keane captures a group of individuals.
Homeland Season 6 concluded with the big assassination attempt, and Keane decided it was best to keep Clare Danes' Carrie out in the cold because she felt she could no longer trust her.
Dante will look into the people Keane detains to find out who could be behind the attempt on her life, but will Dante be able to talk Keane around to understand that Carrie cares for her?
That will be a big question, but one we look forward to seeing answered on the new season, which is set debut early next year on Showtime.
The other addition is Mackenzie Astin who will join the series as Bill, who just so happens to be Carrie's brother-in-law.
He has been added to the series in a recurring role which is expected to span the duration of the seventh season. Ominously, the character leaves a university job to work in Keane's administration.
So, Carrie now has two more people who know Keane. Is that a coincidence? We have no idea, but it will be fun to watch Carrie attempt to get back on Keane's Christmas card list.
