Game of Thrones Round Table: Farewell, Viserion!

Holy guacamole!

Both Viserion and Thoros of Myr died on Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 and the significant deaths paved the way for one of the most shocking episodes to date.

Below, TV Fanatics, Christine Hinton, Robin Harry, and Paul Dailly discuss all of the big developments from the episode.

What did you think of Viserion's death?

Christine: Heartbreaking. They could kill off half the cast and, oddly enough, I don’t think I would have felt as badly as I did watching that dragon go down bleeding. Even worse was Daenerys having to watch it happen knowing there was nothing she could do to stop it.

Robin: Oh man, that crushed me. I was silent-screaming at the TV as soon as the ice javelin/spear left the Night King's hand.

Seeing Daenerys' shock and crestfallen face just made it even worse. As soon as he died, though, I knew the Night King would reanimate him somehow. Though I didn't see the giant metal chains coming at all...

Paul: It floored me. As soon as the Night King picked up the spear, it was evident one of the dragons was going down, but it was just heartbreaking to watch it all play out. Damn you, Night King!

What will the Night King do with the dragon?

Christine: What does anyone do with a dragon? He’ll use it to get beyond the wall. He’ll use it to battle his enemies. He’ll use it to every advantage he can to take over the world.

Robin: I guess he uses the dragon to get past the wall somehow. Burn it, melt it, fly over it, I don't know. Oh, and also try to take over the world.

Paul: Fly over the wall and melt a pathway for the walkers and the wights to get to where they want to go.

Sisters At War? - Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6

How long before Arya and Sansa join forces to take down Littlefinger?

Christine: Not soon enough! These two could be such a powerhouse if they could just get out of their own way. They’ve never gotten along, and sibling rivalry is hard to change, but they need to grow up and see each other’s point of view.

I wish they’d actually talk about what they’ve both been through instead of leveling accusations. Maybe Arya would have more respect for her sister if she knew Sansa fed Ramsay to his own dogs.

Robin: I have no idea what's happening here, and I love it. I assume Arya was trying to scare Sansa into being honorable with Jon, and I don't know what Sansa was getting at sending Brienne off when Brienne is her greatest ally.

I don't know if they're going to join forces, but I'm sure Arya will get Littlefinger's face quite soon.

Paul: For me, this storyline feels like a daytime soap, and I can’t wait until it’s over. I do think Sansa and Arya will ultimately come together to take down Littlefinger, but I don’t know when.

The Squad - Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6

What are your hopes for next week's big meeting?

Christine: That Cersei doesn’t end up on top! Cersei can’t be trusted and seeing one White Walker isn’t the same as seeing an army of White Walkers.

I’m not sure she’ll put the good of humanity above her own personal power if she doesn’t see what’s coming with her own eyes.

Robin: Let's see. My hopes are that Tyrion doesn't die, that Jaime doesn't die, that Daenerys doesn't die, that Tyrion doesn't die, that Jon doesn't die, that Brienne doesn't die, that Tyrion doesn't die...

Paul: I want Daenerys to appear on Drogon just to see the reaction on Cersei’s face when she realizes that the mother of dragons is badass.

What was your favorite scene?

Christine: Definitely Jon waking up with Daenary’s watching over him. I loved how he immediately said he was sorry for her loss and that she admitted going beyond the wall was necessary because she never would have believed the White Walker army without seeing it for herself.

It was one of the most touching, heartfelt scenes of the entire series and made me root for these two all the more.

Robin: Tormund and The Hound for the win! I loved all the conversations among the Westeros Seven, but that conversation, in particular, had me in stitches.

I almost died laughing at Tormund talking about making babies with Brienne, and at Sandor inadvertently teaching him the word "dick." I've so missed light-hearted scenes like this during this heavy season.

Paul: I’ll go with Tormund and The Hound. They were so fun to watch in an episode that had me dreading every other scene. They should get a chat show.

How do you think Game of Thrones Season 7 will end?

Christine: With me, a cheering, weeping, exhausted mess! But seriously, I’m hoping that the White Walkers are defeated so that we can concentrate on who will run the seven kingdoms during the final season, but I doubt I’ll get my wish.

Robin: What I *want* is for Cersei to be killed, but I guess it will end on some cliffhanger where it's unsure which side has the upper hand. Also, pretty sure someone will die.

I know the episode is precisely 79 minutes and 43 seconds, so I assume there will be 17 seconds of shock and despair on my part after it's done to make it an even 80 minutes.

Paul: It will end with a period of calm, followed by a period of bat$hit crazy moments that will get us ready for the biggest war of all.

What did you think of all the wild developments?

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 Quotes

Thoros: You still mad at us, boy?
Gendry: You sold me to a witch.
Thoros: A priestess. I'll admit, it is a subtle distinction.
Beric: We're fighting a great war. Wars cost money.
Gendry: I wanted to be one of you. I wanted to join the brotherhood, but you sold me off... like a slave. Do you know what she did to me? She strapped me down in the bed. She stripped me naked.
The Hound: Sounds alright so far.
Gendry: And put leeches on me.
The Hound: Was she naked, too?
Thoros: She needed your blood.
Gendry: Yes, thank you. I know that.
The Hound: Could have been worse.
Gendry: She wanted to kill me. They would have killed me if it wasn't for Davos.
The Hound: But they didn't, did they? So what are you whinging about?
Gendry: I'm not whinging.
The Hound: Your lips are moving and you're complaining about something. That's whinging. This one's been killed six times. You don't hear him whinging about it.

Tormund: You're the one they call the dog.
The Hound: Fuck off.
Tormund: They told me you were mean. Were you born mean or do you just hate wildlings.
The Hound: I don't give two shits about wildlings. It's gingers I hate.
Tormund: Gingers are beautiful. We are kissed by fire. Just like you.
The Hound: Don't point your fucking finger at me.
