It's been common knowledge for a few weeks now that The Originals would be taking to the future for Season 5, and that meant recasting Klaus and Hayley's daughter Hope.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the lucky actress taking over the role from Summer Fontana is Danielle Rose Russell.
Danielle is 17-years-old, so we think it's fair to assume the time jump is going to be more substantial than the one at the beginning of The Originals Season 4.
That first one was five-years, and we got to meet a bolder, powerful version of the witch. We can only imagine the possibilities that will emerge by taking to the future once again.
The Originals Season 4 concluded with the Mikaelsons parting ways to save Hope's life after super villain, The Hollow made it her mission to take the youngster down.
The only safe place for Hope was Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, and that's exactly where she went on The Originals Season 4 Episode 13.
Hayley made the move with her, giving the series an exciting connection to Mystic Falls, which was the focal town on dearly departed parent series, The Vampire Diaries.
If the show plans on planting some more roots in Mystic Falls on Season 5, we will likely get to meet some of the other characters from The Vampire Diaries.
Considering Caroline Forbes had a substantial presence in the school when the show concluded, it would be fair to assume that Candice King could be joining The Originals in a recurring role.
Her story with Klaus was far from over, so it would make sense for her to appear.
There is also word that a third entry in the franchise could be on its way to a TV screen near you in the future. The set-up? Hope Mikaelson as a teenager.
We have no idea how it would work, but who could say no to some more time with the wonderful characters in the franchise?
