The Originals Season 4 Episode 11 Review: A Spirit Here That Won't Be Broken

Did anyone seriously think The Hollow's reign of terror was over?

On The Originals Season 4 Episode 11, the mission to take down the villain was kicked up a few gears, and it resulted in a breathtaking episode that kept me on my toes throughout.

Mommy Needs to Go Away - The Originals Season 4 Episode 11

Inadu has a way out of everything, and it's getting a little tiring. I was curious to find out what the heck she was up to when she consumed the potion, but I did not for one minute think she was going to take over Hope's body.

It opens up a lot of storyline potential. She will now know what the family is up to without having to do much work. She'll be able to go on tours with Klaus and sample the finest croissants in the Quarter. Maybe she'll decide to stay in the body and live the youth she never had.

The only way I see her being caught is if the family notices a change in behavior, and boy, I'm sure they will.

With the villain now hiding in plain sight, it's interesting to ponder how the family will try to pick up the pieces now that they think everything is right in the world.

A New Spell - The Originals Season 4 Episode 11

If you read our Round Table for The Originals, you probably already knew we were expecting Elijah to make his way back into the land of the living at some point or another.

The only way Daniel Gillies would ever leave the show is if the actor wanted to move on. I'm not quite sure the show would be able to continue without him.

He's such an integral part to the storylines, and it would be odd having another Mikaelson not on the series full-time.

Anyway. He's back, and something tells me Hayley is going to want to get Hope the heck out of New Orleans when all of this is over. The kid will likely be on a one-way trip to Salvatore Boarding House of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Always & Forever - The Originals Season 4 Episode 11

I doubt any of us would oppose to that idea. That set-up on The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 16, should be explored, and now's the best time to do it.

Hayley was disgusted opening up at the end of the episode about the way things were and just how nobody is safe. While I've enjoyed the backstory of Hayley on The Originals Season 4, I sincerely doubt she needed a fake version of Jackson to reveal the error of her ways.

It was nice to see an interaction between the former couple, but it was evident from the get-go that it was not the real Jackson. What benefit would it have been to Inadu to allow Hayley a meeting with her former love?

Even though Hayley admitted she loved Elijah, and she met him when she was in a dark place, I will no longer be on board with the couple if they split up over recent events.

As Hayley said, she already knew what he was like. Heck, she even admitted every single one of the family had done some shitty things in the name of saving their own.

Back Together? - The Originals Season 4 Episode 11

I was so happy that Kol and Davina finally got a happy ending. They deserve it after all the crap they have been through.  With Inadu getting stabbed by Hayley, it seemed like we were going to have to witness the young witch dying all over again.

What I loved about the whole Davina return plot was that she told Kol he could not turn his back on his family. That took guts, but it showed how different she was from the other characters on this show.

The others would have thrown her under the bus at the first opportunity if it meant saving one of their own. Davina could have crafted a revenge plot, but instead, she went to say goodbye to Josh, thinking her time was over.

Let Me Die - The Originals Season 4 Episode 11

I teared up when she appeared in Rousseau's in the dead of night. She was Josh's best friend, and it's not like they got much of a goodbye when she was sacrificed.

I was so sure Klaus was going to go on a murderous rampage and paint the town red with some Mikaelson blood. Thankfully, Kol knew his brother would understand the things some people do for love.

Had Kol not mentioned Cami, however,  he would likely be dead, and Davina would be distraught.

I'm Still Here! - The Originals

I honestly don't know how to feel about Rebekah and Marcel. They parted ways eons ago, and I don't know how we're just expected to get back on board with them all of a sudden.

That's not to say I didn't like their scenes together. They were great. The witty one-liners were a highlight of the episode for me, but I'd just prefer if we moved on from this storyline.

Marcel waited over two-hundred years for Rebekah, so I'm sure he can wait for two-hundred more. By that time, the show will be in the TV show afterlife.

A Truce? - The Originals Season 4 Episode 11

Word on the street is that the cast and crew thought the show was getting canceled, so I wonder if all of this has something to do with that. If that is the case, I think Season 5 might get rid of some of the series regulars and bring in some new characters.

Overall, "A Spirit Here That Won't Be Broken" was an entertaining hour that sent the series in an exciting direction.

You're the King of the city. Can't you condemn this dump?

Rebekah

Kol: Davina?
Davina: I'm right here.
Kol: For a moment, I thought...
Davina: It's okay. I'm still me. Flesh and blood... alive for now.
