When did the Shadowhunters become the bad guys? I am not loving their attitudes lately.

Many of the things the Clave leaders wanted to do on Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 13 were straight up wrong. They're abusing their powers.

Luckily the main group members have common sense.

"Those of Demon Blood" was a plot-heavy episode that served to build up the tension for the story later on down the season.

Even before the deaths caused by the Soul Sword on Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 10, there's been some friction between the Downworlders and Shadowhunters. It's almost like a push and pull between the popular clique and everyone else.

This might possibly be the worst we've seen the Shadowhunters enforce their will over the Downworlders. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if the Downworlders decided to revolt and fight back. This latest rash of bad decisions will haunt them.

The tracking chips. Are they the worst idea ever? There's no way the leaders expected the Downworlders to agree to them.

It's one thing to ask suspects to submit to a DNA test, but it's another to enforce tracking chips. It was downright tyrannical and stupid. The Downworlders would never stand for it.

Though, was that move a bit rushed? Sure, there was a murderer running around and killing people, but they jumped to chipping people a bit too soon.

Was anyone else let down by the identity of the killer? The reveal didn't do it justice.

I was hoping for a familiar face. Having a random somebody who was shown for a quick minute near the beginning didn't feel like enough time to get the connection. In fact, I didn't even recognize her until a few minutes after the reveal.

The killer had murdered a couple of Shadowhunters; that should've been a shocking revelation. Even though they teased Meliorn, it was a missed opportunity.

Are the vampires expecting Simon will turn them into Daylighters too? They were pretty quick to pitch this whole new vampire clan. Raphael will not be happy to hear about it.

I think the "vampire prophecy" (or whatever story they mentioned) needs to be better explained. There's a reason it was brought up, but we didn't get many facts about it. My gut is telling me it will play a part down the line.

Whether it's a good or bad twist will be up to what details we discover about the prophecy.

Simon: Look, all I want to do is go to college and hang out with my girlfriend. Is that too much to ask?
Luke: About that, I hope you and Clary are, you know, being safe.
Simon: Yeah, totally, but I figured because of the vampire thing, I couldn't really get Clary...
Luke: Woah, I wasn't talk about that. I was talking about the bloodlust.
Simon: Well, if things get too heated, I know how to pull back...
Luke: Just don't get overconfident. I've seen it happen before. You know, temptation and emotion.
Simon: Can we talk about any other topic?!
Luke: Absolutely!

Was any else loving the chat between Simon and Luke? It was a mix of awkwardness, love and genuine concern.

Luke is the closest thing to a dad Simon has had in a while. They (inadvertently) had the awkward sex chat most people hope to avoid with their parents. I loved every minute of it.

Imogen is placing a lot of pressure on Jace. I understand that she's his grandmother, but they barely know each other. He didn't discover his heritage until Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 12.

From what she keeps preaching, being a "Herondale" is apparently an important responsibility. Is she being too elitist? It's not like he's being a king or anything.

Imogen: Six shadowhunters are dead. Don't let your emotions cloud your judgment.
Clary: Isn't fear an emotion? Because that's all this is. Tracking people because of the kind of blood they have, locking them up without recourse. Is that what the Clave stands for?
Imogen: Your idealism is charming, but when they wheel in the next dead Shadowhunter with their runes carved out, what will you tell their families? What will your ideals have done for any of them? Put her downstairs with the vampire.
[They move Maia away]

There are many important families in the Shadowhunters community, and I don't only mean Alec's/Isabelle's family or Clary's family. She needs to build a relationship with her grandson before forcing family responsibilities on him.

Speaking of relationships, did anyone expect the sparks between Dot and Magnus?

I didn't think they would still be lingering. We knew Magnus dated Camille and many others before, but he seemed to have moved on with Alec. Though, I'm not so sure anymore.

Ever since Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 11, there's been some trouble brewing on the Malec front. The relationship isn't as strong as it was and doubt/issues are popping up with the pair. Could they be heading for a break soon?

Dot: How did you know it was me?
Magnus: My powers are widely beyond your understanding...and I saw you crossing the street outside. So have you come to talk me into spitting into a cup for the Clave?
Dot: Kidding me? Look, I'm all for stopping those murders, but when the DNA brigade came knocking, I portal'd out. I had that shop in Salem, this isn't my first witch hunt.
Magnus: I'll drink to that. Oops, it seems I already have.

It was great to see Harry Shum J.R.'s dance moves on Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 13.

He's a trained dancer, and we've seen him perform before on Glee and the Step Up movies. It was a nice break to highlight his talent in a special way. Even if it was a scene between Magnus and his former lover.

I forgot about Max until he turned up again. He simply disappeared after his Rune Ceremony on Shadowhunters Season 2 Episode 8. It's nice seeing him interact with his older siblings with Isabelle looking after him.

I'm on the fence about his urge to start fieldwork. He seems really motivated to jump right in, almost to the point that it nearly cost him his life. For some reason, I think this will come up again soon, but it won't turn out great.

Jace & Maia...they hooked up. I'm surprised that happened, as I never would've expected it.

Don't get me wrong, I know the expression that opposites attract, but those two always seemed more like frenemies than a flirtation. Nothing they had done previously made it look like they clicked that way.

Hookup or not, this isn't an endgame situation. He's clearly still into Clary and Maia has an attraction to Simon. They'll enjoy each other's company until an answer is decided for this love square.

Maia: So, this rumor about your being Shadowhunter royalty, is it true?
Jace: I don't know. Can it get me free drinks at Hunter's Moon?
Maia: Let's not get crazy.
[They laugh]
Jace: I don't know what I am. I've had three different last names this summer; now I'm a Herondale. All I know is that I'm the same Jace.
Maia: God help us.
