Mark Pedowitz's long-term goal of bringing a military drama to The CW has come to fruition!

Valor, a serialized military drama/conspiracy thriller starring Matt Barr, will join The CW's 2017-18 lineup.

It's the second drama series pickup announced today, shortly after the announcement of the odds-on favorite Dynasty reboot landed a series spot on the schedule.

Pedowitz knows a thing or two about military dramas, as he was partly responsible for Lifetime's Army Wives while he was running ABC Studios.

He'd made another attempt to bring a Navy based drama to The CW, but that never came through.

Valor is written by writer/musician Kyle Jarrow who also executive produces alongside Anne Fricke. Fricke (Being Human) also serves as showrunner.

According to a synopsis on Deadline, on Valor, the boundaries between military discipline and human desire are tested on a U.S. Army base that houses an elite unit of helicopter pilots trained to perform clandestine international and domestic missions.

The drama unfolds in the present as well as in flashbacks to a failed mission involving one of the first female pilots in the unit.

Ultimately, they'll be uncovering layers of personal and government/military secrets, leading to a season-long plan to rescue a group of MIA soldiers.

Earlier today, Dynasty was also given a series order.

Dynasty is a reboot of the sweeping business and family saga between the Carringtons and the Colbys from the 1980s.

In the reboot, the drama will focus on Fallon Carrington and her soon-to-be mother-in-law, Cristal, who is marrying Blake Carrington.

There is an updated, more inclusive cast and a younger Blake for the 2017-18 version of the series.

That leaves four pilots still in contention at The CW, all well received by the network.

Black Lightning is still very much expected to make the cut, and and of the two hour-long comedies in contention, at least one of them was expected to go to series.

This is the first time in a while networks have been making some hard decisions, and The CW has yet to determine the fate of two of its currently airing projects.

iZombie and The Originals are awaiting their fate as the decisions on pilots are being made.

What do you think will happen to those shows?

Veronica: What the hell is a "Sticky Maple"?
Kevin: It's kinda what it sounds like. It's a Riverdale thing.
Veronica: No, Kevin, it's a slut-shaming thing. And I'm neither a slut nor am I going to be shamed by someone named, excuse me, Chuck Clayton! Does he really think he can get away with this? Does he not know who I am?! I will cut the brakes on his supped-up phallic symbol.

Our story is about a town; a small town and the people who live in the town. From a distance, it presents itself like so many other small towns all over the world...safe, decent, innocent. Get closer though and you start seeing the shadows underneath. The name of our town is "Riverdale".
