Taken Renewed for Season 2, Three Comedies Passed On at NBC

NBC must have liked the pitch they got for Taken Season 2.

The network has just pulled the trigger on a renewal for the freshman series, with an expanded order of sixteen episodes.

Rogue Mission - Taken Season 1 Episode 10

Taken Season 1 spanned ten episodes and was billed as a prequel to the Liam Neeson-starring movie franchise of the same name.

The series launched with 7.5 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in February out of The Voice. The ratings tailed off with the freshman run ultimately averaging 5.3 million and a 1.1 rating.

That's not a great number, but NBC owned the show, so a renewal was never really out of the question. It matched Timeless and Chicago Justice in the ratings.

Showrunner, Alex Cary will depart the series before production begins on Season 2.

Helping Out Another - Taken Season 1 Episode 8

With Timeless' fate still up in the air, the Taken renewal will likely dash the hopes of fans who wanted Timeless back. The show has been on the bubble for quite some time.

With the good news for Taken, NBC has passed on three comedy series that were at pilot stage.

That's right, folks, Spaced Out, What About Barb? and Relatively Happy will not be making their way onto the 2017-2018 schedule at the network.

NBC has so far renewed five shows for the 2017-2018 season after Superstore, Shades of Blue, The Good Place and This Is Us landed renewals.

Emerald City was canceled after one season a few days back. There is even word that the network is ready to say goodbye to either Chicago Med or Chicago Justice

Gulp.
