Marvel's Inhumans: Iwan Rheon to Star as Maximus

at .

Iwan Rheon, who most of us have come to know as Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones, has landed the lead in ABC's upcoming production of Marvel's Inhumans.

Inhumans not only has a straight-to-series order for next fall but will premiere exclusively in Imax theaters for a two-week window in September prior to the network run. This show is expected to be that big.

Rheon will play Maximus brother to Black Bolt, who believes the Inhumans are the superior race on earth.

Inhumans explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.

In the series, Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King – although he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.

“Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and executive producer of Inhumans.

This isn't the first time Rheon has played someone other than human. As part of The Misfits, he was one of a group of delinquents who discovered he had gained powers after an electrical storm.

That series was quite the success in Britain and can be found on streaming services.

“Maximus is a complex character," Showrunner Scott Buck said.

“Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent.”

Marvel’s Inhumans, which follows a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965.

Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe.

Marvel’s Inhumans is executive produced by Buck, Loeb and Jim Chory . Roel Reine will direct the first two episodes.

The series is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.

What do you think about this casting for Inhumans?

Will you ever be able to get the image of Ramsay Bolton out of your head?

It appears Sansa Stark's revenge has been Iwan Rheon's gain. He'll finally be given the opportunity to prove to the US he's more the ravages Ramsay Bolton had become!

Is this the direction you were hoping the series would go? Who do you hope might be cast in other roles of the series?

Given the success (or failure...Agent Carter) of other Marvel ventures from ABC, how do you feel about the odds of Inhumans taking flight?

Now that you have your Labor Day plans all lined up, is there anything else we can do for you today?

ABC Quotes

Aren’t we judged by how we treat people? I don’t mean as doctors. I mean as people. Especially those who don’t have the same advantages that we have. We hire Shaun and we give hope to those people with limitations that those limitations are not what they think they are. That they do have a shot! We hire Shaun and we make this hospital better for it. We hire Shaun and we are better people for it.

Why were you rude to me when we first met then nicer to me the second time we met and now you want to be my friend? Which time was it that you were pretending?
