CBS Orders Doubt to Series; Passes on Nancy Drew

Katherine Heigl is returning to TV y'all.

CBS today announced that Doubt will be joining their roster of new shows for the 2016-2017 season.

What is this new drama about?

It's about a defense lawyer who starts to fall for her client who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime.

It does sound like something we've seen before, but none of the other attempts at it have had such a stellar cast.

Katherine Heigl, Steven Pasquale, Laverne Cox and even Dreama Walker?

Sign us up for the whole season!

Heigl's last attempt at TV on NBC's State of Affairs failed to keep viewers interested and was put out of its misery after a brief run.

Will she be able to bring in the viewers this time round?

The good thing is that CBS shows tend to do well in total viewers, but it could be the younger demographics that struggle to find the show.

Laverne Cox has been great on Orange Is The New Black, but we don't quite know what this means for her future on the Netflix hit.

Might she go the way of Matt McGorry's John who disappeared into the ether without so much as a goodbye plot?

Hopefully not.

Maybe she'll be able to pop up a few times here and there, but it all depends on her schedule.

Dreama Walker's last main role was in ABC's Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23.

This show seems completely different, so it should give Walker room to flex her acting range.

The pickup news comes as we await the fate of CBS' freshman shows.

There was some bad news for fans of Nancy Drew.

NBC has passed on the potential reboot series.

The series was previously considered a front runner among their crop of pilots, but it cooled off somewhat when some of the other pilots came in.

We'll probably get some more clarity on what shows will be on the network before the weekend is over.

What do you think about Doubt?

Will you be adding it to your watch list?
