The Flash Season 2 Episode 16 Review: Trajectory

at .

So...the cast is never going to grow beyond the core group we have now.

Is that the general lesson we're to learn from the way Jesse left on The Flash Season 2 Episode 16, very similarly to the way Henry Allen left shortly after he was released from prison? That's too bad. I'll miss her.

Trajectory, on the other hand, was a complete dud. There was nothing even remotely compelling about her. She was sort of a waste of a first female speedster.

Trajectory was only a drug addict. She obviously had some mental issues that were brought to light by way of the drug, as she began talking to her newly found self that was fast and confident (if not nearly as intelligent) as the scientist was in her normal life.

I'd love to know how she knew where the metahuman prison cells were inside of STAR Labs, as well as how to operate them. If she could figure that out at Mach 3 (or whatever mach she was going), why didn't she know that continuing on with the drug really would kill her?

Those pesky details.

Of course, even Barry had a few doubts, wondering if everyone else was cheating on with speed maybe he should, too. If that only served to bring in a tiny bit of what we once loved of the relationship between Harrison Wells and Barry with Harry and Barry? Good enough.

Harry

Later, when Barry was attempting to stop Trajectory from killing herself, Harry was so proud listening in on the conversation. Maybe having Jesse back for a short time was enough to bring out the mentor in him with the Flash Team. His wise words have been missed. Tom Cavanagh is so good at delivering them.

I get that he's not the same character, and he's withdrawn and sort of angry, but he's a father. A real father, at that. Inside of him are real words waiting to come out. Let him say them. Please. And thank you.

Watching Cisco dancing was adorable, and the outing was a good reminder that they still hang together as a team. They haven't done that since The Flash Season 1, have they? Caitlin finally had to stand back a bit because Cisco looked like a Peanuts character.

Tell me if anyone else noticed this. When Jesse met Wally, did her metahuman detector go off? It seemed to me that it did, and she got embarrassed and brushed it off. Granted, both Barry and Cisco are metas, so it should have been ringing like crazy, but still. Thoughts, please.

Despite Barry and Iris having a few cute words about their married doppelgangers and not discounting the fact they'll be married in the future, Iris is set up to date her new editor Scott. But I didn't see any sparks fly between the two at all.

Did you guys think there was anything between Iris and Scott? Sure, not everyone she dates has to be a Flash fan, but she should at least otherwise be interested in them, right? She doesn't have to date them just because they're the first available male character on the show. Just ugh with the dating already.

And finally in this incredibly slow episode about two scarlet speedsters going Mach speeds, the team finally knows Zoom and Jay are one in the same. The haunting music depicted how it affected them to be foiled again by someone they cared about, but overall it wasn't too awful of a reaction.

The Flash Season 2 Episode 16 looks good, though. Barry will be taking a trip back in time to get help with his speed from Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne. Desperate times, and Jay being the bad guy is desperation at its finest. You can check out the video below!

Drop your thoughts of "Trajectory" in the comments. Waste of a female speedster? Was there much of merit to the hour? Will you miss Jesse?

Don't forget, you can watch The Flash online anytime via TV Fanatic. Oh, and the Grey's Anatomy slideshow below? It's there for a point. Both Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker have been guest stars and appear within. See who else did. It's kind of fun!
