Madam Secretary Season 2 Episode 18 Review: On the Clock

at .  Updated at .

A doomsday clock, nuclear warheads and tracking down a terrorists wife. What more could you possibly ask for?

On Madam Secretary Season 2 Episode 18, Elizabeth not only had to deal with the doomsday clock, but had to basically stop a war from happening.

This whole "end of the world" stuff is really starting to get tiring, but I understood why they're talking about it.

Peace Talks - Madam Secretary

We're constantly reminded of destruction on a daily basis and it would be ridiculous if Madam Secretary didn't at least address some of the fears many people have.

Are they being realistic in the way they're handling things? Of course not, but at least it provides us with some entertainment.

Case in point, Elizabeth's interview with Jane Pauley. There's no way her staff would honestly think it would be a light interview.

Who does a light interview with the Secretary of State? I wasn't the least bit surprised when Jane mentioned the doomsday clock considering it is now at three minutes to midnight.

I did find myself agreeing with Russell about the doomsday clock. Russell was right about the small percentage of people who believe in the clock. It could easily impact the upcoming election for President Dalton.

All it really takes is a handful of people to sway the results of an election. The only thing I was confused about was getting Elizabeth's staff involved in trying to stop the scientists behind the clock. Why get them involved in trying to stop something which is unstoppable? People are going to be paranoid no matter what they did.

The only good thing to come out of the clock plot was Daisy's realization she wants more out of her life.

I'm really enjoying how they're giving the staff members more to go and really fleshing out their characters more. Even though I knew where Daisy was coming from I couldn't help but laugh when she was talking with Nadine.

I'll be completely honest, the only thing I found remotely interesting was the Jibral Disah storyline. I can't say I was shocked when Layla tried to email a warning to Disah's wife about the government wanting to track her down.

I actually found myself agreeing with Jane when she was trying to reason with Russell about the whole Layla situation.

Layla lived in a place where the government was feared and she felt like she was doing the right thing by sending out a warning. She didn't know what her former student was involved in.

I figured Henry would show up at Layla's home the moment Russell ordered a rush on her home, but I have a bad feeling something terrible is going to happen to Henry.

It seems like he keeps escaping dangerous situations and he'll be targeted by Jibral Disah.

In the end, Daisy asked Oliver if he'd have a baby with her and he quickly agreed to it.

Even though I did enjoy Matt and Daisy together, and I still see them possibly getting together again, I really do love her and Oliver together. They seem to work well together, but I think their busy schedule is going to get in the way.
