Lucifer Season 1 Episode 10 may not have been the most entertaining hour this season, but it still had many entertaining moments.
The interactions between Maze and Trixie and Maze and Dr. Martin almost stole the spotlight. That is, until Lucifer grabbed it back during the Decker family dinner.
And, let's not forget that ending. So many questions with that ending.
Let's start with the ending. Does anyone here think Dan is really dead?
I have to admit I was a bit surprised at the turn of events between Malcolm and Dan. For a fleeting moment I did think Dan was going to tell Malcolm he'd help him kill Lucifer, especially after what Dan said when he left the dinner.
But I didn't really expect Dan to pull a gun on Malcolm. And I certainly didn't expect Malcolm to take Dan out. But, I guess when you're living on borrowed time, anything goes.
Still, I'm not convinced Dan is dead. There is no point in killing off this guy even with only three episodes left and no definitive word yet on whether Lucifer is going to be renewed. (Yes, please!)
Dan is way too important to the story. For both Lucifer and Chloe.
There's something to be said about Lucifer not taking advantage of Chloe's drunken come-on. He's been lusting after her since the beginning of the season, but their relationship has changed in so many ways since then.
Deep down, I think he sees Chloe as a friend, and bedding her when she's in a drunken despair is not a cool friend thing to do. He wants to see Chloe happy, and though it might kill him to admit it, I really think he knows Chloe and Dan belong together.
So, I like that Lucifer is taking the high road. And I still think that this is all leading to his redemption and ultimately a reunion with his dear old dad with the end game being his return to Heaven. Yes, that train of thought doesn't go along with theology, but this is television. It can do what it wants.
Penelope Decker was a lot of fun, though I'm not quite sure what the point of her was other than to get all the players together for that awesome dinner party Lucifer shined at.
Yes, there were a lot of parallels between Chloe's relationship with her mom and Lucifer's own daddy issues. And the case of the week tied everything together perfectly.
Lucifer had an almost epiphany listening to Junior tell his story, but Lucifer's own arrogance prevented him from grasping the point, even though he said it himself: "He didn't escape his father, because he turned into him." What a very telling line of dialogue.
The dinner party was the highlight of the hour. It was fun to watch the father of lies spew nothing but truths at the table. Lucifer's shocked expression at everyone else's shocked expression was hilarious, but Chloe's face when Lucifer said, "So that's the reason you're not having sex with me," was the best.
Maze looked a little disheveled this hour. I'm wondering if it's because she's stressed out Lucifer still isn't talking to her? I was surprised to see her sitting in Dr. Martin's office, but she did say she liked the woman when she visited the bar a few episodes ago. So, it makes sense that she would turn to Dr. Martin for help.
But, what a strange turn of events that is though, no?
I couldn't help but laugh out loud when she asked Dr. Linda to help make her normal and expected her to just snap her fingers to make it happen. And when she returned to her office later to announce she had a made a friend, albeit an eight-year-old girl, she was so proud of herself.
She had done something for herself without Lucifer's help, and it was a big moment for her. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with their drinking date. That ought to be fun!
It's interesting that Maze isn't repulsed by Trixie like Lucifer is. Maze was truly enchanted by her, even pouring her a drink thinking it was a normal thing to do. Even better was Maze dropping a cherry in the drink when Trixie asked if it was a kiddie cocktail. Such a Maze thing to do.
While it's going to be a lot of fun watching Maze try to be normal, does this mean she's given up hope of returning home? What happened to the wing segment she has? Is Amenadiel ever coming back? Is Lucifer's Lucifer-yness gone forever?
