Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 17 Review: Friends in Need

Danny and Jamie almost came to blows over the turducken at the Reagan Sunday family dinner on Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 17

Well, maybe not actual blows, but when Danny put Jamie down for still being in uniform, I was happy Frank was quick to put them in separate corners.

Jamie and Danny Disagree - Blue Bloods

Part of me was incredulous at what Danny said. Does he actually believe that Jamie couldn’t make detective if that’s what he wanted? Then I realized that sometimes siblings say stupid things in the heat of battle and I think that’s all this really was.

Eddie made me laugh when she referred to Marcus as a, “ruff, tough, cream puff.” The guy was ridiculously stupid. When he first refused to wear a bullet proof vest, I didn’t worry about him as much as how guilty Jamie would feel when he got killed. Surely Jamie would have felt it was his fault for not turning him in.

Marcus was young and foolhardy and I think Jamie had a point in this Blue Bloods quote about Danny’s influence…

Your example's made him reckless. He's going to get somebody killed.

Jamie

Because Danny is reckless. Maybe, as a veteran detective, you don’t need to follow every procedure to the letter but as a rookie on the street, those procedures could save your life. That Danny couldn’t admit to that spoke volumes to his arrogance.

But then Danny did a complete turn around as he told Jamie…

You're the best cop I know, alright, and you can teach him things that I can't.

Danny

It was a little like Jekyll and Hyde until you realize that he and Jamie are brothers and sometimes it just works that way.

Erin’s case was mostly dull. The one thing I scoffed at was how hard she came after that widow in their initial interview in front of the woman’s daughter. Did she really expect the woman to respond well to having her late husband accused of fraud?

Obviously it all worked out in the end but the widow coming forward with the box of evidence felt as though it wrapped up the case a little too neatly to be believable.

I enjoyed Frank’s meetings with British law enforcement, mostly because I like guest star Alex Kingston who played Commander Sloane Thompson. I couldn’t really blame her for being blunt about wanting more information and I thought Frank respected her for it, despite his cheeky response…

I can tell you what the Irish in me truly dreads, ultimatums delivered in British accents.

Frank

In the end, I was pleased to see Frank take her up on her offer for a nightcap. Frank deserves a little fun and she’s definitely his equal in many ways. I wouldn’t mind seeing her return for another visit.

Anthony: I'd arrest my own mother if I thought she was scamming cops.
Erin: Your own mother?
Anthony: But with lots of backup.
