The truth about Liz’s connection to Red and the truth about her mother and her past seems even more likely to be revealed by the end of The Blacklist Season 3.

It’s hard to believe the series has kept that type of secret for this long, but especially with Red receiving those documents at the end of The Blacklist Season 3 Episode 14, I’d be shocked if the mystery carries over into The Blacklist Season 4.

Let’s just hope the payoff is a satisfying one.

Red did at least provide a bit more information on Liz’s mother, but it wasn’t a cheery revelation.

Red’s story implied that Liz’s mother walked into the ocean and killed herself. But I’m not sure that’s the full deal.

He plays his hand close to the chest, so it’d be surprising if he showed all his cards.

Plus, with the way he reacted to that file at the end, “It just keeps getting worse,” really makes me wonder where the story is going to go when it comes to Liz’s mother.

But I did feel bad for Liz feeling like she was responsible for the death of both of her parents, especially when she’s been struggling with giving up the baby for adoption.

It seemed to go much easier on the adoption front in this episode. However, there was still a hesitancy, and the way the hour ended, with her reading The Wizard of Oz, I’m not so sure she’s going to give the baby up anymore.

Red clearly doesn’t want her to, but that reason probably has a lot to do with info and a past we don’t know about.

And it does make you want to know just what were in those documents he needed to find.

Because while the case of the week dominated most of the episode, it tied in heavily with the theme about raising children and clued us in to Red’s reasons for hunting down the blacklister.

Though, I despised Lady Ambrosia. Even in trying to give her a tragic reason for why she was killing kids, she was never redeemable, especially in the way she treated her other son.

It was fantastic for Red to take control of the situation at her place and tell her exactly what she was and let her son know that he deserved to be loved. Again, James Spader commands the scenes he's in.

But it was sad that right after the son pushed his mom into the well, he jumped, too.

Really, the way the hour was able to wrap things up, with the father reuniting with his son, and the mother reuniting with her daughter struck an emotional chord. The song choice of “Just Breathe” by Don Brownrigg was a perfect selection that made the closing moments have an even far greater impact.

I can’t say I liked the direction of Tom’s story once he teamed up with Gina, but I’m not surprised that things didn’t turn out smoothly either.

Luckily, he survived, but at least it wasn’t something that could be patched up. Just seeing him collapse in the shower really illustrated just how badly he was injured. Lucky that kid even found him, too.

But what does that mean for Tom next? Will he let it go? Will Gina come back to finish the job? Will Tom heal up and hunt her down?

I’ve got a feeling it’s just going to bring him closer to Liz, and Red’s not going to like that one.

This was a decent episode, but it fit very much in line with the procedural element of the show. Though, the stuff involving the parents connecting to and loving their children got to me, and Red’s insistence on getting that file has me very intrigued. I’m definitely ready for some more secrets to be revealed.
