TV Ratings Report: The Wiz Hits High Notes For NBC

at .  Updated at .

With TGIT out of the way, NBC stepped up to the challenge and got some pretty spectacular ratings.

It wasn't their regular programming, but that can be expected at this time of the year.

The Wiz Live averaged 11.1 million viewers across 3 hours, with a solid 3.3 rating among 18-49 year olds. These numbers are up significantly from Peter Pan - Live a year ago.

Meanwhile, The CW got a minor boost as The Vampire Diaries Season 7 Episode 8 (1.3 million/0.5 rating) and The Originals (1.2 million/0.5 rating) both went up a little.

And elsewhere around the dial:

  • ABC aired encore telecasts of Toy Story That Time Forgot (4 million/0.9 rating) and Shrek The Hall (4.2 million/1.0 rating). That led into CMA Country Christmas (5.8 million/ 1.0 rating).
  • Fox went the encore route, with two episodes of aging procedural, Bones(3.5 million/0.6 rating & 3 million/0.6 rating).
  • CBS aired football with the NFL Football - Pre Game (10.3 million/ 2.4 rating) and NFL Football (12.6 million/ 3.5 rating).
