TV Ratings Report: TVD, The Originals Open Low

So long, Elena Gilbert. So long, strong ratings?

Following the departure of Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries Season 7 got off to a rough start on Thursday night, drawing just 1.4 million and earning a 0.6 rating among 18-49-year olds.

These represent a 22 and 33 percent drop, respectively, from last year’s premiere.

Elsewhere on The CW, The Originals Season 3 christened its new time slot with 950,000 viewers and a 0.4 rating, tying its series lows in both categories.

It was an unpopular night all around, however, as all three of ABC's dramas fell in both total audience and in the key demographic ratings.

How to Get Away With Murder (7.2 million/2.1 rating) hit its series low for the third straight week, while Grey’s Anatomy (8.1 million/2.1 rating) and Scandal (8.7 million/2.6 rating) held close to last week.

On NBC, Heroes Reborn (4.4 million/1.2 rating) dropped by a full 25 percent in the key demographic department, while The Blacklist (7 million/1.5 million) and The Player (4.4 million/.9 rating) also fell.

Finally, on Fox, Bones (5.8 million/1.3 rating) ticked down, but Sleepy Hollow (3.4 million/1.0 rating) held steady, though that mean that it tied its series low.
