Viewers may still be in shock over the events that concluded Castle Season 8 Episode 2, but at least they tuned in to watch them unfold.

The second part of the premiere garnered 7.8 million total viewers and a 1.6 rating among 18-49-year olds, both significant increases over last Monday night’s opener.

Elsewhere on ABC, Dancing with the Stars (11.7 million viewers, 1.9 rating) remained steady from last week.

Around the dial...

  • Gotham (4.6 million/1.6 rating) also held steady, while Minority Report (2.7 million/0.9 rating) fell 13 and 18 percent from its debut. It will likely be canceled VERY soon.
  • The Voice (11.8 million/3.3 rating) decreased just a tad week-to-week, while Blindspot Season 1 Episode 2 (9.1 million/2.6 rating) slipped 14 and 16 percent from its debut, but still won its timeslot.
  • The Big Bang Theory (14.9 million/3.6 rating), Life in Pieces (8.9 million/2.0 rating) and Scorpion (9.4 million/1.7 rating) all dropped around 20 percent among young adults, with Scorpion hitting a series low. NCIS: Los Angeles held steady.
