Okay internet friends, tonight is your night to shine on iZombie Season 1 Episode 6, as we play around with the seedy world of internet trolls and online bullying.
Personally, I think Liv had a tough go of it, since I would never want to dip into the brains of an evil hacker like Sim Reaper. But duty calls, and liquefied brains are on the menu! Yuck.
Potentially the funniest and strangest concept of them all, rotted brains was something I'd never considered being a problem for Liv. You'd assume that all brains taste the same, right? If Liv's disgusted face was anything to go by, Sim Reaper's two week old brains were not her best meal.
I believe the professional term is... bleh.Ravi
Unfortunately for her, his brains were rotted in more ways than one.
Not only did he spend all of his time trolling around on the internet, Sim Reaper was also hugely agoraphobic. Seeing Liv battle with his condition was a new kind of struggle, very similar to her shoplifting tendencies from the pilot.
Each time Liv ingests a new brain, we get to see tons of new little quirks, and it's clear these writers are going the extra mile to make their victims seem like totally real, totally flawed people.
My favorite so far was probably the sociopath from a few episodes back, but the agoraphobic brings in a close second!
The best part of that particular side plot had to be Liv's call to Lowell. Realizing halfway through her pathetic excuses that she could just own up about brain side effects? Perfect.
Hey Lowell, so sorry to do this on a message, but I have to cancel. I'm literally seconds away from puking, it hit me out of nowhere, and I'm calling you from the bathroom floor right now. Hope you understand- oh my god, I'm such an idiot, I totally forgot you're a zombie. I can just tell you. I had a bad batch of agoraphobe brain, and I can't get out of my apartment. Okay, bye.Liv
Lowell is seriously growing on me, and I know I'm not alone there. His easy openness about all his zombie details still throws up warning signs for sure, but on the other hand, he also let himself be very vulnerable with Liv. Confessing about being unable to play live music anymore, and how unfair that is? My heart!
We speculated on the iZombie Round Table that Lowell could be one of Blaine's operatives, but opinions varied. I guess time will tell on that one!
Elsewhere, Major's investigation into missing kids might be bringing him closer and closer to danger.
We finally got to see Major have a life and a job though, which was a bonus. His career as a social worker might be bad for health care, but seeing him interact with those kids showed a new side to him. No matter how cliche it sounds, Major seems to be a genuinely good guy, who cares about his kids.
I'm a social worker. My insurance covers like one bandaid a year.Major
He might not be a fan favorite yet, but I'm betting he's on his way there soon. You can't keep a nerdy-hot guy on the sidelines for long.
Speaking of nerdy-hot, Ravi was full on nerd tonight, and is anyone even a little surprised that he's into online gaming? Each new nerd-tastic fun fact we learn about this guy only makes him more appealing. There's really no stopping how much I can adore him.
Blaine was also back – finally! – and up to no good. As always.
He's not only associated with Babineaux now, but Liv's mother! He knows the cops are on his tail, and he might soon have his claws in Liv's little brother, which can only means bad things for Ravioli and their dynamite detective. Especially now that Major's picture of The Candyman has them onto Blaine's master plan.
Now it's time for the serious part, kids.
The motive in tonight's murder was revenge for a girl who was so mercilessly cyber-bullied that she took her own life. Those of you internet addicts like me know that this is a very real, very serious problem on the cyber waves today, in comments sections, on Twitter, and even Facebook. Highlighting the issue on a youth-targeted show like iZombie was a great move by The CW, and one I absolutely respect.
So let me take this time to say: be kind to one another. Online and off.
