Finally, the Numbers have meaning.
Television fans around the country are celebrating what has officially been classified as Lost Day, as the notorious numbers made famous via Hurley's lottery ticket match up perfectly this afternoon.
Just consider 4:23:42 p.m. on April 8, 2015.
We have the 4, which corresponds to the month; 8 to the day; 15 to the year; 16 to the hour (in military time); 23 to the minute; and 42 to the second.
Yes, this is a bit of a stretch. But come on. So was that questionable final season!
The Numbers, of course, quickly turned into an integral part of the Lost mythology over the years.
Each number stood for one of Jacob’s candidates to become the Island’s protector, which he determined by the degrees on a lighthouse mirror.
So now the question comes down to this: How will you celebrate Lost Day?
By downing a bucket of fried chicken? By playing a game of Backgammon? By shooting a polar bear?
