The Vampire Diaries Round Table: Introducing Lily Salvatore!

at .

Many, many exciting things went down on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 17.

For starters, Steroline got down and dirty on her dorm room floor. (That's a hot spot for her seeing how she also reunited with Tyler in front of the fire.)

Elsewhere, Damon took Elena to 1903 to meet his mother. And only one of us thinks she's probably crazy. Join Paul Dailly, Amanda Steinmetz, and Miranda Wicker from TV Fanatic and Crissy Calhoun, author of Love You To Death, as we break down "A Bird In A Gilded Cage."

What was your favorite quote or scene from "A Bird In A Gilded Cage?"

Paul: My favorite scene was that Steroline hookup. I did not expect that to happen and it was so worth the wait. More please.

Crissy: My favorite line was Damon's "Hello, mother." Such an amazing call-back to the pilot episode. I laughed out loud.

Amanda: My favorite scene was right after Caroline sang for her audition. I wondered if Stefan had faked turning off his humanity, but the second the director's head came off, I knew Stefan had really gone through with it.

Miranda: Crissy, that one got added to The Vampire Diaries quotes database! It was too perfect. I loved Alaric and Enzo together, but not the parts where Alaric basically convinced him his revenge plan was stupid. So what I'm saying is I love the idea of Enzo having SOMETHING BETTER TO DO than hate Stefan.

Your least favorite?

Paul: Kai being trapped in the prison world. This storyline was great at first and gave the show a much-needed new life, but we're now almost at the end of the season and they keep linking back to it. Move on.

Crissy: My least favorite was the repetitious "Caroline has a routine" thing Stefan and Caroline were bantering about — does she really? The last few years have been non-stop supernatural hijinx. It just felt forced and unnecessary. (All for the evil lovemaking it lead to, though!)

Amanda: The scene where Bonnie gave Damon the cure... More on that below!

Miranda: Oh, god. The cure is back. Let's just resurrect Silas while we're at it! This show is missing its doppelgangers.

The cure is back in play. React:

Paul: This brought with it a lot of annoying storylines in season 4. I'm not thinking positively about the return of it. Hopefully someone destroys it, because we all know whoever takes it will become a vampire again anyway.

Crissy: My reaction was...wariness. I think the writers know what got tedious about the cure in The Vampire Diaries season 4 and wouldn't go there again, so...I'm hopeful this will go somewhere interesting. (And technically, there's another cure in the 1903 prison world they could get their hands on too, should they so desire.) I did think it was absolutely ridiculous when Bonnie said it was of none of her concern whether Damon told Elena about the cure. Elena is Bonnie's best friend, isn't she? She doesn't care about her eternal fate, or her having the choice?

Amanda: Ugh!!! I feel like we're heading down a very familiar path. Damon will be conflicted about giving Elena the cure because he wants her to stay a vampire, but she would love to be human, so he can't be selfish, and blah blah blah blah blah. I'm honestly not so sure Elena would want the cure now anyway.

Miranda: To that point, Crissy, why don't they just have Kai create lots and lots of prisons and go there and get more cures. You get a cure! And you get a cure! And you get a cure! EVERYBODY GETS A CURE! On second thought, maybe that's how this all ends...Writers, call me!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how crazy is Lily Salvatore?

Paul: 5. I didn't think she was THAT crazy. Sure, she's not spoken to anyone in years, so she has a right to be. I think she will be revealed as the villain for the rest of the season.

Crissy: I'd say, like, 0 crazy. She seemed pretty well adjusted, all things considered.

Amanda: I'd give her a 4... for now. She's definitely got a glint of crazy in her eye.

Miranda: I think you guys are all underestimating her crazy. I'm giving her a solid 8 for everything we have yet to see. There's no way she talks to desiccated vampires for a century and doesn't go a little batty.

Will Kai make it out of 1903?

Paul: Yes, and he'll bring those vampires with him!

Crissy: Definitely. Maybe he'll be a vampire by that time.

Amanda: Yes, and he'll have a vampire posse.

Miranda: Yes. I think they'll have to rescue him because without him, the other Geminis will start to suffer.

What should Jo and Alaric name their baby(ies)?

Paul: Jenna. Just for the awkwardness of it all.

Crissy: Ha, ha. Or Isobel. Really, there are so many dead comrades they could honor it's a tough choice. Just not Duke. Blech.

Amanda: I'm liking the who Jenna and Isobel thing. So we'll go with those if they're twin girls. Whiskey and Bourbon if they're boys.

Miranda: Luke, obvs, since he died to save Jo. And Liz after the late Sheriff Forbes. Luke and Liz!! Errr...

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 19, "I Never Could Love Like That," airs on Thursday, April 16. Until then, watch The Vampire Diaries online and relive your favorite moments.
