Bones Midseason Report Card: Grade It!

at .

Bones is 10 seasons in and still going strong, despite a few hiccups and, for some fans, unwelcome changes.

With Bones Season 10 came the addition of FBI Special Agent James Aubrey and the loss of Lance Sweets. It also brought some fun cases, some disgusting dead bodies, of course, the celebratory 200th episode.

But has Bones Season 10 made the grade? Check out the midseason report card below - and don't forget to give it your own grade!

Brennan and Booth Discuss How They Will Interview a Witness - Bones Season 10 Episode 1

Best Episode: Hands down, the 200th. Bones Season 10 Episode 10 pulled out all the stops for the Alfred-Hitchcock theme, and it was fabulous. We got a chance to see Booth and Brennan fall for each other all over again in the most fun, artistic way possible. The episode was not only a joy to watch because of the theme, but it also referenced past seasons to offer a nostalgic view of the entire series.

Worst Episode: Bones Season 10 Episode 9, "The Mutilation of the Master Manipulator." It wasn't terrible necessarily, but Booth being stuck behind a desk the entire time was disappointing. There was also something off about the way Booth talked about Brennan to Aubrey. Combine that with a case that wasn't very captivating, and I'd call this the worst of the season.

Most Underutilized Character: Hodgins. The guy is such an interesting character, and he's been around since the very beginning. He should be a more integral part of the cast than he is, but he's often only in the background or serving as comedic relief. I want to see more of his relationship with Angela and his life as a father. There's also his history of being rich and his obsession with conspiracies that could make for some great story lines. The best that's happened this season was when he was accused of murder (again), but even that wasn't as developed as it could have been.

Favorite Squintern: Wendell! Perhaps it's because he's one of the most developed of the squinterns, but he's a great character I wish we could see more. His interactions with Booth are always nice to watch, especially since he looks to Booth as a mentor. Luckily, Wendell seems to be in good health and he even had a love interest this season.

Silliest Way to Find Dead Body: The skull flying out from the merry-go-round in Bones Season 10 Episode 7 was both disgusting and ridiculous. Sometimes, Bones goes too far trying to be creative with finding dead bodies, and this one was so bad it was almost comical.

Best Case: Bones Season 10 Episode 6 gave us a serious case that dealt with human trafficking, and it was really well done. In fact, I often don't care about the cases as much as what is happening with the characters, but this case was worth paying attention to. It also had an affect on the characters, allowing us to see more emotion and depth with James Aubrey.

Biggest Shock: This one is so obvious that I doubt we need to say much about it. But the death of Sweets was by far the biggest shock (and the most devastating) of the season so far. I mean seriously, who saw that coming?! It came on the heels of Booth getting out of prison and dealing with a conspiracy against him, making it that much more emotional and surprising. RIP Lance Sweets. I'm still not over it.

Favorite Quotes:

Booth is a dreamboat I'd like to take a sail on. How about you?

Angela

Brennan: Well, I believe the expression is "bring it on over," Dr. Wells.
Wells: No. The expression is "bring it on." There's no over. But, okay.

So, it was the hooker in the bedroom with the candlestick. Tell me this is not starting to sound like a game of Clue.

Hodgins

He's here. Sweets is a part of us. Our lives, who we all are at this moment, have been shaped by our relationship with Sweets... I might not have married Booth or had Christine. Daisy certainly wouldn't be carrying his child. We are all who we are because we knew Sweets.

Brennan

Booth: Come on Christine, if you want to be a big girl, you gotta eat your breakfast. It's good for you.
Christine: Mommy says size is determined genetically.

Overall grade: B+
