TV Ratings Report: Blackish Breaks Out, Nashville Drops

ABC may have finally found a comedy to pair with Modern Family.

The Blackish season premiere pulled in 10.8 million total viewers last night, along with a strong 3.3 rating among 18-49-year olds.

Overall, Modern Family was the most-watched series among young adults, though CBS won this demographic in general thanks to the premiere of Survivor and the finale of Big Brother.

ELSEWHERE:

  • The Mysteries of Laura Season 1 Episode 2 won its 8 p.m. timeslot in viewers, with 9.9 million total. This will not make many critics happy.
  • The Middle (2.1/8 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall) dropped 16% from last year’s opener, while its ABC cohort, The Goldbergs (2.3/8 in 18-49, 7 million viewers overall) performed well.
  • The Nashville Season 3 premiere brought in  5.6 million viewers overall, falling 25% from its year-ago premiere, yet showing an increase over its May finale.
  • Chicago PD Season 2 Episode 1 garnered 8.5 million households and a 1.9 rating among key viewers; the latter was a 22% drop from its opener last September.
