ABC President Touts Split Season Success, Lots More Scandal
Matt Richenthal at .Earlier today, ABC unveiled its new fall schedule.
It includes six new programs, with many more to come at midseason - and President Paul Lee explained in a conference call with reporters this afternoon that his network will utilize many more splits seasons in 2014-2015, squeezing fresh programming in during long hiatuses for shows such as Once Upon a Time.
“We dipped a little bit in January and February, but then in March we came roaring back,” Lee said, noting that “most” of his shows will be cut in half next year.
This includes Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, which will give away to Marvel's Agent Carter during its hiatus.
Elsewhere in Lee's conference call...
- He said Scandal Season 4 will be comprised of 22 episodes and he is "very confident" it will do well against The Blacklist in 2015.
- Resurrection Season 2 will have 15 or 16.
- Revenge Season 4 will be very much a creative "reset" for this drama.
- He described musical comedy Galavant as “Camelot meets The Princess Bride.” It will air back-to-back episodes at midseason, bridging Once Upon a Time’s winter hiatus.
