The Originals Round Table: "An Unblinking Death"

at .

A staged attack, the death of a beloved character, and the softer side of Klaus Mikaelson. That's what you missed on The Originals Season 1 Episode 19.

We're here to break it all down for you in the latest edition of the TV Fanatic Round Table. Matt Richenthal, Leigh Raines, and Miranda Wicker are joined by Heather Vee of Vampire-Diaries.net to chat about the most recent developments in the Big Easy...

What was your favorite quote or scene from The Originals Season 1 Episode 19?

Matt: I actually LOL'd when Kieran came back to life with the hex and was ordered to kill Cami. Can this show pack any more into a single episode?!? Kieran was shocked... died... turned into a vampire... transitioned... and was killed off all within one hour. Amazingly awesome.

Heather: I loved Klaus telling Cami "not to give up, to let go" in reference to Father Kieran. It was such a beautiful, simple validation of her grief and his way of absolving her of guilt. And so heartbreaking.

Leigh: Another Klaus moment here. After everything happened with Kieran he called Marcel and granted him 24 hours to come back to the city to say goodbye to his friend. He also knew Cami wanted to see Marcel and put her needs about his own revenge wants. It's rare to see that side of Klaus.

Miranda: I loved all of the scenes you guys mentioned, but part of me also loved Cami electrocuting Kieran, as cracked as that sounds, followed by her telling Klaus to turn him. That girl would stop at NOTHING to try and save her uncle and I guess I admire her tenacity.

Scale of 1 to 10, rate Klaus' squishy side.

Matt: A solid 8. It doesn't get much more selfless than to call in the man your crush has feelings for when she needs emotional assistance. Klaus wouldn't have done that with Tyler/Caroline. He's come a long way.

Heather: I think Klaus is a full-blown 10 depending on who or what it is. It's not so surprising he has that side at all, but that it exists fairly comfortably alongside his more vicious tendencies.

Leigh: Agreed that it depends on who it is. Klaus has a few people who he lets get him to a level 10. As I said above, Cami is one of them.

Miranda: It's totally an 11, and it's one of the things I love about the character. As much as it's awesome to see him be a total badass who rips apart a house full of vampires, these moments when he's kind remind us why we root for his redemption.

What happens to Oliver when Jackson and Hayley find out he planted the bombs?

Matt: I will make a reference to Rocky III that exactly .002% of our readers may understand and quote Mr. T: "Pain."

Heather: ...oof. Well. Nothing good. I think he could have come back from the bomb thing, truth be told. It's killing Eve that pushed him past the point of no return.

Leigh: Hayley is so ready to lead. She and Jackson will not let that shit slide! Did you see the way she took charge after the bomb went off? It's engrained in her to protect these people now. Oliver is going to get his due.

Miranda: Hayley is largely pregnant, probably miserable, and not to be trifled with. I say she tears him to pieces.

Did Elijah figure out that Oliver attacked his own people?

Matt: I don't think so. He was too busy lamenting the loss of a suit.

Heather: I think he probably has his suspicions, but I think Elijah will set his eyes on the big fish, which was implied to be Francesca. And that will not be pretty.

Leigh: I think he did, but he isn't positive and trusts that Hayley is smart enough to figure it out. Obviously his last plan to take charge and unite the city didn't work out too well. Time to let the wolves figure this one out amongst themselves.

Miranda: I can't see how Elijah didn't put it together that there was something weird about the attack, but his decision to forget his own alliance and team with Klaus to take back the city seems to indicate he didn't figure it out.

RIP Father Kieran. Pen a eulogy for the fallen priest.

Matt: You stood strong in the face of evil. You were brave in the face of death. You kept your faith until the end and you've got a very attractive niece. May you reunite with Sean in heaven and, if possible, go say hi to Alaric on The Other Side.

Heather: Here lies Kieran O'Connell - Friend, Priest, Bad Ass.

Leigh: In the words of Klaus, he deserved far better than the way he went out. May he find peace after suffering in the last days of his life.

Miranda: Father Kieran, your death proves (again) that it's hard to be a human surrounded by supernaturals. New Orleans misses you. Enjoy the afterlife.

What are your theories on the key Josh stole for Marcel?

Matt: It looks to be about 2-3 inches in length. It's dark in color. It's on the older side and it's... oh, did you mean theories on what it could be for? I ain't got no idea.

Heather: Considering the O'Connells longtime status as leaders within New Orleans' human faction, I imagine it has something to do with the tabs they've kept on the supernatural community.

Leigh: Can I just briefly say how much I love seeing more Josh on the show? Ok so I have no clue about they key, but something along the lines of what Heather said is probably correct.

Miranda: I'm going with...it unlocks secrets best kept under lock and key.

The Originals Season 1 Episode 19 Quotes

I wouldn't stand that close to him if I were you. He's kind of unpredictable. And murdery.

Josh

Klaus: Think very carefully before you speak. The sound of your voice is likely to make me regret what mercy I've shown thus far.
Marcel: Yeah, yeah, I'm on your "who's been naughty list."
