Unlucky In Love: Our Advice for Tony DiNozzo

by at .

Some of our favorite TV characters have it all. Impressive careers, nice homes, cool cars, even great hair... but the one part of life they frequently get wrong is love.

So we here at TV Fanatic have decided to take the time to steer them in the right direction. Will they listen? Doubtful, but at least we can say we tried. Isn't that right, Olivia Pope?

Who needs our help this week? NCIS' Tony DiNozzo. Read on for our open letter to the beloved CBS character...

Tony Being Tony
Dear Tony,

In a word, your history with love has been horrendous. It can probably all be linked to the death of your mother at a young age and your somewhat absentee con man of a father.

Yes, being left at the altar by ex-fiance Wendy was a tough break and since then you'll have to admit that most of your affairs have been superficial at best.

Your friendship and flirtation with fellow Agent Caitlin Todd certainly had potential... if a bullet hadn't ended her life much too soon.

And despite your protestations to the contrary, it appears your most emotionally open relationship was with Dr. Jeanne Benoit. You even told her you loved her and I'd bet money you meant it. Too bad you were undercover trying to bring down her notorious arms dealer Daddy. That would kill anyone's romance.

That leads us to fellow Special Agent Ziva David. Even a blind man could see the chemistry between you two. You never fail to challenge one another. You always have one another's backs and you've both been known to get more than a hint of the green eyed monster when the other's love interests come around.

To say your relationship is complicated is an understatement, but that doesn't mean you couldn't be much more than colleagues. More than friends. After all of these years, doesn't that unresolved sexual tension drive you to distraction?

Way back in "Truth and Consequences" you were under the influence of truth serum and you warned Ziva not to ask questions she didn't really want the answers to. Perhaps it's time to man up and volunteer the information.

As much as you may bristle at your father's somewhat dishonest and promiscuous nature, it appears your own love life has begun to resemble the man's more than you'd probably like. Isn't it time to make a change?

Tony, if you truly have feelings for Ziva, it's time to put it out there. If she's not interested, she can say so and then you can figure out how to move on. If she is, then you two can work together to balance your personal and working relationship.

If working for NCIS should have taught you anything it's that life is too short. Tell people how you feel while you have the chance.

What do you think? Should Tony take a chance on love with Ziva?

Michael Weatherly posted a picture to his Twitter feed for an upcoming episode..clearly it seems that FINALLY! our Tiva will be on that track they were destined to be -- As Gibbs told Tony, "Don't be like me, LEARN from me!" Ziva is Tony's Shannon -- lets get this done! Move it DiNozzo or we will Gibbs smack you!
Seriously -- it is more than time for this wonderful character and our Ziva to have some happiness, with each other - forever. Oh yes I am a full shipper! Proud and loud.

But you also have to remember they like tony trusted her too and she use them just like she use NCIS

As someone who really likes Ziva, I think it's important to remember something she said in "Reunion", "I trusted my brother Ari. I trusted Michael. I could not afford to trust you."
Before joining NCIS, every man in Ziva's life has proven to be untrustworthy. Trustworthy men are a new experience for Ziva; and so she is learning how to be in relationship with men (Gibbs, Timmy, Ducky, Jimmy, Tony) who won't stab you in the back or betray you or use you. She'll get there.
And let's not act as if Tony is a saint. He has his share of problems that he has been working through. Eventually though, these two will give it a shot.

Well, since shipping is what this entire article is about that you're commenting on, it's kinda hard to avoid the topic. It's the media like this article that keeps pushing the shipping just like they did here. It makes for lots of views and lots of comments, so it's not likely to change anytime soon...

I just think its time to move on hooking up coworker on a show is getting as old and outdated as these single episode it use to be okay when one show would do it but its a bit of a overkill when EVERY show does it.

@guest - thank you for your apology and of course it's accepted. I know that I too can over state my case because I have been really upset about what has been done to my favorite character, and how my least favorite has been, IMO, promoted above all else, but, as you say - it's just a show. Nothing I say or you say will change whatever tptb want to do with their characters. I just like to get it out at times, but know that for Ziva lovers, my comments are likely not enjoyable.

If you think about it I mean really think about it when was the last time we talk about anything other then Tiva that what I think is making people mad EVERYTHING all the spoiler reviews etc etc trun into either Tiva or MCAbby but NCIS is left in the dust like it does not matter.

I would like to sincerely apologize for my rant on this page that was directed at you. I certainly never intended it to be a personal attack on you and your opinions. I got away from my own philosophy of never saying on these pages something I wouldn't say to someone's face. I do not know you and should not assume things about you. I should have clarified in my comments that the name bashing comment was not directed at you. I only discovered the TVFanatic page about a month ago and in that month I have read several nasty remarks directed towards anyone who likes Ziva or defends her. I should not have taken this frustration out on you. I am very sorry for that. I just stated how I viewed Ziva and that was all I intended to do. I did not intend to rile up people or in turn get riled up myself. I am a pretty reasonable person that generally avoids conflict in real life and I am sorry that I did not show that on these pages. I would not treat you in person the way I treated you on this page and I am genuinely sorry for that. I will really try to hold back the negativity that I ask others to refrain from. Thanks for reading and I apologize to all the others that had to be subjected to this conversation.

This ridiculous "Ziva" debate is beginning to get as ugly as the "Huddy" wars, and look how THAT turned out. I think we're getting a little self-indulgent here. Can we please call a truce?
