@MikeH- Sorry, but if your post isn't about how cute Simon Baker is, and how everybody must love him, the bored housewives on here won't have much interest in responding. About your question, it makes sense that she had some interest beyond the romantic. Even if you don't believe Jane is Red John, he is the foremost expert on a major serial killer. And that is a big part of her career.

@ huisclothes and Mike H,
Also wondered about it.

@mimi odd is unexpected, surprising, different. weird is odd but more unsettling, even supernatural.

@mikeh thank god, someone else brings this up. i had been anticipating some fantastic story turn triggered by dr. kidd's expertise since i read a two-line description of the episode a month ago. right after red barn where we see the seeds of red john's insanity and we discover the visualize connection, they announce a woman with this field of study and then they drop it? wtf? certainly any biological or anthropological component to murder, anyone who understands the human predilection for murder could be enlightening -- and a great plot twist for god's sake. i was flabbergasted when they dropped it. perhaps she'll come back. how the hell could patrick jane leave that stone unturned?

Mikeh hello!
I didn't find him strange and believes she asked him out because she fancied him but who knows..

HC mmm yes RJ must be furious by now I believe esp with everything that happened.. maybe he even knows jane helped her escape.

Can I ask, what is the difference between "odd" and "weird", is weird more British English?

hello. re: lorelei and the finger. what was interesting to me here was that red john asked her to cut off fingers. MEMBERS. freud would have a picnic with that one. that was a tea-cup dropper for me. back to my dog-eared homoerotic theory.
lorelei was so rushed and, i think, so scared, and desperate to please red john, that she didn't think much about it. perhaps he was already pissed at her for not picking up on patrick's scam earlier herself. the writers chose the ring finger because it's the most resonant choice for the audience but lorelei just wanted to be a good girl and get out of there. her apology to patrick, i think, was a risk for her. who knows how red john would take that? that she was breaking ranks with him and sympathizing with the prey? he might be very angry.

Just to get back to this episode :), I'd like to bring up the ending of the last show and Dr. Sonia Kidd. I think it's really interesting that the two books that she wrote were Natural Born Killers and Evolutionary Roots of Murderers. When she asks Patrick out for lunch, is it a just romantic thing or does she have some alternative motive? The obvious answer is that she was just interested romantically in Jane (with the remark about his ring, etc.).... but it's hard to get past her writing those two books for someone in her profession. Did Jane refuse to have lunch with her because he knew she had written those two books?

I'm not necessarily a big RJ=PJ theorist... but I do think this adds to those who are. Anybody else notice this or have some thoughts?

yes I agree Bonaduz, I liked George Clooney when I was younger. Yes Simon deserves to play in good movies, hope he'll be offered some nice roles in the future.

I watched "Up in the Air" the other day, with George Cluney. And I thought: Would love to see Simon Baker in this role. Or "Meet Joe Black" with Brad Pitt. Or even "Witness" (one of my fav. all time movies) with Harrison Ford. Not that these actors weren't great in the films, just something like that I would like to see SB in. He is so good at communicating without words, it would be awsome to see him in a big, quiet, emotional, deep role. Here we go again Entwife: Obsessioin-worthy! Great word and soooo true!LOL,LOL!
