Hawaii Five-O > Hawaii Five-0 Review: Shrimp Truck Lock-Down > Comments Page 2
I enjoyed this episode. Maggie has some serious fight moves. Kamekona...i loved that he showed his softer side and promised Maggie that he would be there for her..awww, so sweet.
I think it hilarious that Steve has no idea on how to handle his Mother or what to do with her. Danny's admonition that no good will come of tailing his Mom and the option to just ask was . Mama Mcgarrett did not disappoint when she turned the tables on Mick. I would have been disappointed if an operative of her caliber had been fooled by Mick. It was good to see Christine Lahti back. Steve's expression when Mick showed up was priceless. : )
Steve eating MREs was very cute and Cat's suggestion that she get her camo's out of the car to put to complete his....was another great moment.
After Scott Caan's statements about how much he hates it here, it's really hard to watch H5O. Add to that the way the show stomps all over local customs (and police prodedure), I find myself walking away from the screen. Throw in that white people are a minority here, but every guest actor they bring in is Mainland and white, makes H5O a serious disappointment. Yes, it's just a tv show, but Hawaii deserves better.
"Glau - .... a true gem for anyone who likes their action-adventure to be emotionally engaging..."
LMAO. How many other actors on the show had the only emotion as crying and had so many cut aways to add fake tears to make the performance plausible?
I'll give you she is hot and kicks ass... but emotionally engaging? She played emotionally stunted characters in Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles... which made her believable. Even in Dollhouse she was non-emotional.
Other than this issue, I in general liked the episode. And I agree that Glau's fight scene was awesome.
This episode was amazing. My favorite part was when Maggie was thrown into the pool to fight Kat and after getting thrown around and getting her arm broken she came back and kicked her ass every part of that fight was amazing. Steve stopping Shane before he could kill Maggie and asking him to fight him instead then shooting him in the leg was a little funny and totally Steve. It was great seeing Catherine again and having them start to mess around and Steve's mom come down the stairs walking in on them was great. Steve's reaction to his moms date was great.
Nice episode! Nothing great but solid! The guest stars stole the show this week! Summer Glau was so freaky good in Firefly I was pumped to watch her in H50, and she certainly pulled her own weight - the fight scene at the end - WOW! Treat Williams was certainly a treat as PI Mick (Mick? Really? Cue "Moonlight" theme here!) I have heard Treat will be back for at least 1 more ep. as Mick this season - so that story is not over yet.
Taylor Wiley's Kamekona blossomed this week. We got to see 2 different sides to his big bear persona. First, he obviously did not start out life as a big teddy bear! He's done his time in Halawa (for something I hope we actually find out about in the future) and he still has his connections. Taking care of Ohana - yes, Steve you SHOULD know about! Then Taylor brings out the big guns to impress us with his warmth, devotion and love for his dead cousin's daughter. Wonderful acting by Taylor Wiley - he's not just the clown of the show!
what good would it do for steve to ASK his mother, what she's up to?....HE'S DONE THAT....and she has LIED to him....he's NOT a child she needs to PROTECT any more...per-say.
and is catherine the ONLY navy contact, steve has that he can get HELP from?
i liked it....and i had a feeling, that doris would KNOW that her son had sent the PI to follow her....steve needs to realize, that he's NOT dealing with an EVERY DAY person here....his mother was and STILL is imo, a SPY and she is NOT stupid.....to be honest: i wish they'd WRAP IT UP and GET RID OF HER.....what was the use of having CATHERINE on, when she was only on at the end...and he wasn't really paying her attention, until she said something...for him to jump her?....i DON'T like her...steve is only gonna end up HURT, when he finds out that his mother asked her to LIE to him....and i'm NOT the only fan, who doesn't like her.
i LOVED danny trying to figure out, HOW he was gonna handcuff KameKona....lol.
i want MORE of McDanno and GRACE.
i loved it
I loved this one:) it gave Kamakona a tender side, Steve an even sexier side, and we all know Doris is up to something. All these things are clues leading up to the season finale, the gun will come in to play, Wo Fat/Doris connection, I for one don't want it all tied up in a neat little package that's why I love this show it knocks us for a loop come the cliff hanger.
To Dough-H. I also want to know what they are planning to do with Catherine. Im glad Im not the only one seeing that the Catherine role needs somethign to change. Others I have chat with in other forums believe there is nothing wrong with her character and she is just fine. Even one lady at these forums say that the main reason Catherine is on this season is just to be Steve gf and the Naval role is just secondary and that the Naval issue was just a vehicle to let the fans know they met there and she is a Naval officer but her job is not like a main role in the season, but the focus is mainly to bring Steve softer side out as his gf. So maybe that is what the producers or the show are doing, just let Catherine beign Steve gf and that is all she needs to do, her duties on the Navy are not important even if at some point what she knows in Intel may be part of solving cases.
I so enjoyed Summer... I think of her more from Sarah Connor Chronicles which I watched.. I am also waiting what they will do with Catherine who is in the opening credits... I suspect a season ending arc that will use her more to justify her credit status..
As for McMom, anytime I can see Christine Lahti, the better.. Her best and most famous role was on Chicago Hope...
Loving this episode. Yes a little less adrenaline than some have been, until those fight scenes near ending. Those pretty intense. Loving the McG pulling the Indiana Jones trick on the evil man. Well paced episode for me. Also always happy to get a little glimpse of McG and Catherine. So McG likes to role play? Women can enjoy that. Haha!
a Forgettable episode for sure not bad not good. And I came to a conclusion after seeing the last scene of McRoll. Catherine was not necessary on that episode at all and It made me realize that she was a better character when she was not regular, like Mac gf on CSI NY, she is not regular but she is an important part of MCs life and the team knows her and from tiem to time she is on episodes.
Her role on the show this season had not satisfied the expectations I had from her since the beginning and I did want to give her a chance by seeing her performance after a quite a few episodes in the season. She has not WOW me one bit. It is not the actress fault it is the producers and the writers byt not giving her a believable character. I wonder if that is why the ratings this season had not be top notch like other seasons
When is McGarrett gonna learn not to spy on his mom? That woman was a agent/spy before he was born and I knew she spotted Treat Williams.I am wondering if her falling for him is an act.
Nice to to see Catherine. Kono should hook up w/ Fong. I agree with Nikki about what did Adam's brother do with Kono's gun. When are we gonna see the connection between Doris and Wo Fat. Let's get to it!
Like I always said. Catherine will never had to become regular, she was fine the way she was in previous seasons. Sorry but so far Im not buying her performance on the show after 16 episodes and I really like her and I wanted to have an open mind about her, so far Im not satisfied.
The producers or the writers seem they do not have a clue what to do with her, so they just put her doing things that make her look ridiculous like just to fill the gap and make us believe she is not part of the team but she helps and the part that she currently plays is just of Steve gf and that had been her job so far.
Just like in 2 episodes she lets say helped more, but im still not satisfied. I had high expectations when Michelle was casted as regular and I was happy she was going to be on it, but in 16 episodes. I dont see any improvement and Im a little let down on her character. I do not know if the prodcuers or the writers are waiting for another season to really put her character doing what
Forgettable episode. Case of the week-fight club theme has been done to death(sorry couldn't help it) .Doris substory- Saw it coming a mile away. Steve should have hired Tony Archer. Ratings continue with little change. H50 9.5 million, Castle 8.9, and Deception 3.3. CBS swept the night again.
I mean logan :D
Loved the ass kicking Summer, i don't know why but i am a huge fan if it comes to hand to hand combat.
Episode was fun to watch, the Steve&Cat story line is very fun to watch. Gotta love steve's reaction when he saw Williams at the door for the date
The episode was Ok not as good as other ones it was just average but it had bits of everything and all the 4 main characters had there fair share of screentime.
Let Doris get married with Joe and both can move to Japan.I am done with this SL we never will get any answers.
I liked that Kamekona had a bigger part and his scene with Kono was cute.
Loved Chin scene's with Maggie (Summer) and Summer fightscene was cool.
We had some nice McDanno moments glad they toned down Danny's whinning.
The end scene was awesome Steve face expression was priceless.
I am a McRoll fan love Cath but I didn't saw the need of Cath in this episode what a waste for Michelle talent to show up for 2 min to roll with Steve on the couch again 16 episode in the season and they still don't have any idea what to do with Catherine.
I will start by saying that if Steve McGarett and or Alex O'loughlin wanted to play any type of role play I am in! LOL
This was a pretty good episode. The only issue I had is that we were supposed to buy Summer Glau as a 21 year old. Sorry it did not work for me. She can kick some butt though.
It was nice to see Katherine again.
I also knew that Doris would know that she was being followed and that Steve had set it up, as she said to him at the end "If you wanted to know what I was up to, you just had to ask".
"We can now add to this list Treat Williams, the man perhaps best known as 'the dad from Everwood.'"
Oh you CHILD!!!!!! :-) I know you were making a reference to a TV show, but to me, Treat Williams will forever be "Berger" from the late 70s film version of "Hair."
As for the ep, of course Doris "made" the PI--he was hardly discreet despite Steve's warning that she was a trained agent / spy.
Not one of the more intense episodes, but it had something for everyone--a male stripper for the (straight) ladies / gay men, and a girlfight for the straight guys. :-)
I do have several concerns on certain topics that were addressed in the first episodes of the season and so far the writers or producers haven’t given a follow up and I wonder if they are going to do it in 7 episodes remaining of this season or they are waiting for Season 4 to address it and keep everyone on the loop and guessing. It be nice to tweet Peter and ask him about it, if some of you have a Tweeter account and perhaps can ask him as I don’t have a Tweeter account.
1. The film roll Doris found underneath the house floor, what does it have that may compromise things for Steve or even Doris.
2. When are we going to know the connection about Doris and Wo Fat? I hope it wotn be that Steve ane Wo fat will be related, that for me will run everything.
3. When Steve is going to know that Catherine is lying to him and know what happen to her mother during the Mangosta episode?
4. Is Adam brother Michael be back and we will know what Michael did to Konos gun?
II did like though the last scene where Steve opened the door and saw the PI there and Steve reaction to it. So now that Treat Williams is gone, is Steve going to know more about what he will discover once he starts dating his mom? Because im pretty sure Treat wont be back and the story will be implied and not shown on screen so Steve will know eventually. I hope we know. As Im not sure either about if their relationship will blossom or not
I thought she was already back to the Navy. I want to see her doing Naval Intel, isn’t that her duty? This season she has acted more like Steve gf than a naval officer. When are we going to see her really doing what she really is, the last episode of the season or Season 4 perhaps??

Regarding Catherine performance I felt she only appeared at the end of the episode which for me was totally unnecessary and it did not add anything to the episode just for the fans to see that she is still Steve gf and they are a couple. The last scene would have been ok without her. We already know that, stop showing us that, After 16 episodes Catherine has not done anything that can be meaningful in my opinion. I had an open mind when she was going to be a regular and I wanted to give her a chance in the first episodes but in 16 episodes, she has not wow me not a bit like for me to say Wow nice job Cath, she really does her job well, etc. I think the producers even Peter still do not know what to do with her and that is why the only way to present her to the show is only by being Steve gf. So if she will be in Season 4 that is where she will really do her job as Naval officer?
II did like though the last scene where Steve opened the door and saw the PI there and Steve reactio
Last nite episode was Ok not as good as other ones it was just average but it has bits of everything, it did not have too much like action or pursuits but I guess not every episode has to be that way as long as the action remains thru the entire season. Yesterday episode was more Kamekona centric episode. I felt sorry for the big guy but at the end we all know he has a big heart I did not know who Summer Glau was and still do not know who she is.
It was funny the bantering between Steve and Danny and this time Dannys ranting was toned down which was good. There were other funny moments too.
Doris resurfaced again and it seem you cant fool her, she is always at the defensive for sure she was trained assassin like Steve she does not trust anyone. I like Treat Williams performance but like Maryp said I agree he was not very credible as a PI . But she can be annoying for sure. I mean there has to be a moment where she knows that not everything is how she plans to be.
