Claire Holt Cast on The Originals!
The Vampire Diaries was renewed by The CW for a fifth season this week.
But in light of a new piece of casting news, we must wonder: What will that look like?!?
The network has confirmed that Claire Holt will join Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies in The Originals, the upcoming Vampire Diaries spinoff whose backdoor pilot airs on April 25. She will continue in her role as Rebekah on that episode and in the inevitable new series, of course.
Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah represent the remaining three living members of The Originals - and we now know they will all somehow find their way to New Orleans.
The already-established characters will be joined there by two witches (played by Daniella Pineda and Danielle Campbell); a vampire named Marcel who served for years as Klaus' protege (played by Charles Michael Davis) and a human psychology student who is unaware of her supernatural surroundings, but curious about the root of evil (played by Leah Pipes).

Does this mean the originals wont be regulars on TVD anymore???
No one has actually said whether they will be regulars on both shows or just one...
I really dont want Klaus or Rebecca to leave TVD, i finally feel like their characters are fitting in and starting to evolve :/

Frankly, this may be the best of both worlds.
The Originals (Klaus in particular) has been getting a bit old on the Vampire Diaries. This way, they get to live on for fans to enjoy in their own series. Meanwhile, the VD can go forward with the story as it was originally intended to evolve, without Klaus and company overstaying their welcome.
Also, doesn't Phoebe Tonkin's werewolf character fit into this somehow?

I'm glad that Clair is joining the cast. It would make any sense to make the show about the Originals wihtout the acctual Originals in it, right? But I wonder if this spin off is a good idea after all. The Originals storyline was kind of a big deal on TVD and I love all three of them, but spin-offs are a very risky business. Can anyone think of a case of a good spin-off in the past years?
