The CW Pilot Orders: The Hundred, Oxygen, Reign

by at . Comments

The CW has ordered three new pilots.

In addition to a revamped version of The Selection, as previously reported, the network announced today a trio of moves:

The CW

The Hundred is a post-Apocalyptic tale set nearly a century after nuclear war has destroyed earth and centering on 100 juvenile delinquents sent back to the planet to determine if it can be re-colonizied.

Oxygen follows the relationship between a human girl and an alien boy after he and eight others of his species are brought in to a suburban high school a decade the aliens landed on our planet and were consigned to an internment camp - where they’ve been kept ever since.

Reign is a period drama based on Mary Queen of Scots’ rise to power as a 15-year in France.

It's far too early to actually know what will be on the network's schedule in 2013-2014, but aside from The Vampire Diaries, Arrow and most likely Supernatural, no shows on The CW appear safe for renewal.

I do accept as true with all the ideas you have presented for your post. They're really convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are very quick for newbies. May just you please extend them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.

(continued)
Reign - I would need to see who the showrunners and cast are. It could be intriguing but I don't think CW would give it the budget for it to do really well. Oxygen - No. Just no. (That must have been one heck of a pilot pitch to get the go ahead for this one). 10 slots - Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Arrow will be 3. Nikita will be a forth to get enough episodes to go to syndication. Hedging my bets that Heart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast get another season as well unless the ratings go down. Leaving 4 slots - 90210 will probably get a 10-13 episode run but Emily Owens is done and I don't think Carrie Diaries will make the cut. Which gives us 2.5 slots - if Cult does well it may be the back half of the 90210 giving us 2 full slots or if it does really well then 90210 might not get renewed at all. Or it could tank and they could choose to be done with 90210 leaving 3

I think the CW would be wise to keep ordering pilots...so far not the greatest set. I would currently green light 2 of 4 (though I've ranked them by interest). And this is just a guess but I think the CW will have somewhere between 2-3 slots to fill in it's lineup (reasoning below) The Selection - I really really want it to work because I love the book but it actually worries me that the series isn't finished yet. Not to mention the really messed it up the first time around. The Hundred - Oh hi Lord of the Flies with Girls. Not a bad concept... Unlike some previous posters I don't think the idea is to force them to reproduce. I think it's to see if life can be sustained on Earth for an extended period of time (and they're testing it on their juvie kids). Naturally reproduction would probably happen as a result but these kids are also going to be governmentless and delinquents with no government sounds pretty interesting to me. Reign - I would need to see who the showrunners are and who's playing who. I think it could be interesting but I don't think that the CW necessarily has the budget to make it interesting. Oxygen - No. Just no. Like everyone else has said - Roswell 2.0. Been there done that, there's no way that there's something new with this... 10 slots - Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Arrow will be 3 of them. Nikita will be a forth to get enough episodes to go to syndication. Hedging my bets that Heart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast get another season as well unless the ratings go down further. Which fills 6 slots. 90210 will probably get a 10-13 episode run but Emily Owens has already been canceled and I don't think Carrie Diaries will make the cut. Which gives us 2.5 slots - if Cult does well it may be the back half of the 90210 giving us 2 full slots or if it does really well then 90210 might not get renewed at all.

can you write the articles properly please...?? it pains me to read something and try to guess what was supposed to be written... if you're writing on this kind of site...you're a writer... writers are pedantic and meticulous in their sentence structure....! set nearly a century after nuclear war has destroyed... [set nearly a century after a nuclear war destroyed]... centering on 100 juvenile delinquents sent back to the planet to determine... i think that was meant to be [sent back in time] suburban high school a decade the aliens... this just doesn't make sense Mary Queen of Scots’ rise to power as a 15-year in France... also, doesn't make sense. I'm guessing that should be [MQoS' rite to power as a 15 year-old in france] or [15-year-old queen in France]

The Hundred sounds great. Oxygen could go 50/50. No to Reign.

Really Oxygen is just Roswell 2.0 and i have no intention of watching the storylines roswell already covered all over again.
Reign sounds as boring as it's title, i love old fashioned shows but this doesn't sound good at all.
and the hundred that just sound doesn't really seem promising at all

Um, ordered pilots don't always translate into a series being picked up ...

Oxygen sounds like a roswell rip off and the hundred just sounds dumb and borderline perverted as the synopsis is pretty much the government is going force minors to reproduce and not just any minors...young criminals. I agree that only the selection seems viable what happen to all the other good sounding pilots they had last year? why not revisit some more of those.

These pilots all sound awful. My guess is "Reign" could be good if they make it look like Showtime's "The Tudors" (minus the sexual craziness), but something tells me it will end-up looking more like "once Upon a Time." "The Selection" seems like the only potential hit on the CW's development roster. Also, as for Nikita and Hart of Dixie, I'm certain BOTH shows will be back next year for full seasons. I also think 90210 will at least get a partial season.

Nikita, 90210 and HoD are on a chopping block! Their ratings aren't great but the shows are quite good especially Nikita and 90210 are getting better!
