Once Upon a Time "Cricket Game" Teasers: Murder & Magic!

at . Comments

Murder and more magic are about to come to Storybrooke.

TV Fanatic was on hand yesterday at the Disney lot in Burbank, where Once Upon a Time Producers/Creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis offered up an invite-only screening of this Sunday’s all-new episode, "The Cricket Game."

The 2013 premiere will find Cora and Hook arriving in town, but deciding to keep a low profile (for now) so they can properly plot against our favorite residents. The big thrust of the episode in both present and past, though, is whether Regina/Evil Queen can truly change from bad to good.

Below, Kitsis and Horowitz tease five other developments sure to take viewers by storm and surprise...

Cora with Hook

Murder comes to Storybrooke. It’s never fun to watch a beloved character bite the dust, but fans will nee to prepare themselves. "We can kill anyone,” Horowitz said, half-joking, while Kitsis added: “I think death’s a big deal, obviously, and killing off a main character for us, it is obviously something we’ve done with Sheriff Graham, which I still get death threats about…”

Someone uses magic for the first time in Storybrooke. The producers were mum about how this is going to play out moving forward, but they’re excited about delving into this new arena for this character. And, of course, we’re reminded that magic always comes with a price.. and, for a change, it’s not Rumple who offers that reminder.

We Are Family! “It’s fun to see them together again,” said Kitsis about the newly reunited Charming and Snow (who we get to see getting cozy in bed!). But look for the lovebirds to adjust to being parents to Emma just as Emma will be learning the ups and downs of being a parent to young Henry.

Horowitz explained that while the first half of Once Upon a Time Season 2 dealt with the return of memories, “going forward it’s ‘well, what does this mean being a family? What does it mean being in this world with these memories? And with this new strange familial relationship and what do we want now?”

Cora works hard to get what she wants... And what she wants is to break daughter Regina and get her back on the dark side of things. You’ll see a lot of that play out in Sunday’s episode but, as Kitsis points out, “the real question is how persuasive is Cora?” Because Regina has been staying away from magic to appease Henry, he added,  “[for] somebody who has been off magic, will it return?”

Shipping!! Romance is on the horizon for many of our characters: “We’re actually going to see a lot of Rumple and Belle coming up,” said Kitsis. “The second half of the season [Rumple] is going to collect that favor for Emma and go in search of his son. He and Belle are definitely going to face definite challenges.”

And while we don’t get to see Hook and Emma interact in this Sunday’s episode, Emma will have more just one prospect in the dating department: “Emma is going to find herself with a few choices this season,” Kitsis said, confirming what we really want to know: that Hook will be keeping his ‘manliner’ once he arrives in Storybrooke. He just may need those dark sexy eyes to woo Emma, right?

I don't disagree that Hook and Emma would be an impressively hot pairing, but after the episode with Neil&Emma i was kind of sold. Neil loves her, he's always acted for her advantage and he's Henry's dad. Plus he could be Bael and it'd be pretty amazing if Emma was to become family with Rumple!
Also i was hoping for a more dark partner for Hook. I don't want him to soften up...or see him being a fatherly figure to Henry. (and that comes from sb who's always been on the bad boy ship...delena, chair, klaroline etc)

To not see the potential in Captain Swan is like washing a winning lottery ticket. Total, and tragic waste!

andrea: You have a real villan. HEr name is Cora.

I keep reading "ooooh, he's dangerous", or "ooooh, he's a murder", or "ooooh, he's..." (fill in the blank). If people (the writers too) would open their minds a little bit and look past the end of their own noses, they might get a glimpse of the amazing opportunity this show has with a character like Hook. He's like a stack of lego blocks. If the writers keep tacking stuff on to him, they add to his story. They will pour some salt on him. They will create something. Legos don't play with themselves, though. You have to take them out of their box first. I really wish people would stop boxing up Hook. Take him out of the box!

What is this True Love promo everyone is talking about? I don't remember that at all. Anyway, I believe the character we'll see using magic is Emma. She knows she has it, and it's probably best she learns ho to use it correctly. I sure hope she doesn't "hook up" with Hook. At least right now, it would only make her seem like she's an idiot and doesn't care about everyone's safety.

P.S. - I also agree that you can't turn every fairytale villian into a good guy! Hook is a villian....he's not supposed to go soft!

I'm not jumping on the Hook/Emma bandwagon just yet....even though it's the popular thing right now. I still like Emma and Jefferson/Mad Hatter. They had definite chemistry too (maybe because they are dating in real life?).
People always love the bad boy, but hook is not ready for Emma yet. And I'm assuming that Henry's father is going to come back into the picture.
P.s. - I still miss the Sherrif!

This is wonderful! Glad to see the writers are showing they still have a good imagination! Yes, Hook is changeable. He can be redeemed! If the writers give him his "Aha moment", and rip the rug out from under his feet, I can see that being leverage to shape his world, and him being a complicated character like Clark Kent from Smallville; somebody who has two sides of himself to battle with. His depth is not shallow. That's why the fans love him so much! He can be molded into anything the writers want him to be. He, and Emma will rock as a couple. They're the next Sonny and Carly!

Be careful OUAT writers, your show is on the line to become the next GG, selling unhealthy relationship as epic couple just because some fans want it Unlike GG, you are on family show, please remember that! Not all bad guy can be good again and now you show us they all can, please be careful, you have a lot of young audience who now think hook is prince charming, do you realize how disturbing this is?

Henry ruuuuuun!!! Your mom's true love is a pirate who famous for kidnapping and hurting young boys! Run, run, run for your life!! Oh maybe this is a plot so henry can go back to regina, I bet regina will save henry when emma busy flirting with hook

True love isn't easy but it must be fought for because once you find it, it can never be replaced.

Prince Charming

Be careful. Love is a weapon, Deary. The most dangerous weapon of all which means the pain you should worry about isn't the kind inflicted by a broken sword but the kind that comes from a broken heart.
