Lost Girl Review: Life Is Too Short
Nice fake out, Lost Girl!
On the Lost Girl season 2 finale, Bo's dark side emerged, though she was able to control it. But that darkness is just waiting to come out, so the "Caged Fae" opening fooled me.
I bought Bo's turn to the criminal side, well, at least at first. Once she got to the Dal, everyone seemed to be overplaying their role to a point that it looked like a set up. Phew, what a relief to know it was an act.
Bo would do anything to help those she cares about, so it was no surprise that she would go to prison to help Lauren ... even a skunky-smelling, Lauren. Instead of helping Lauren in the medical center, Bo was assigned to be a sex object for the warden. Poor Bo was stuck cleaning a floor with a toothbrush in a skimpy outfit. Though, that provided her with access that she wouldn't have otherwise had to the warden's office.
The situation at the prison was odd. It was clear that something was wrong, but the what was entirely unexpected. The Lost Girl writers definitely pulled out a surprise ending. That warden was having prisoners impregnated so she could sell the babies was crazy enough, but that the warden was a guy and using his magical sperm ... unexpected is an understatement. After two seasons in the Fae world, nothing should be surprising any more, but this was.
Lauren's doctor friend was killed because she figured out what was going on. In the aftermath, the new Ash, Hale, closed down the prison. Or, as Trick reminded him, "Acting Ash." Hale could be a spectacular Ash, better for the Fae than his predecessors, but will the job corrupt him? Power and conflict with the Dark Fae could destroy the fun, loving Hale that we know and love. I'd hate to see that happen.
Another change: Vex is hanging out at the Dal and helping the gang with their cases. He is a favorite character of mine and didn't disappoint. From his holding Kenzi back, to showing up at the police station to talk to Dyson - oh, plus the sexy cop outfit - he is a riot to watch. However, his association with the Dark is sure to be an issue for a continued partnership.
If I had a complaint about the hour, it was that Bo was separated from her cohorts. I missed the interaction between the whole gang and especially between Bo and Kenzi. Usually they have some female bonding time and that was sorely missed. At least there was some quality Dyson and Kenzi bonding time. I hope now that Bo is back, Kenzi will confide in her about the Norn rash. Of course, that would probably lead to revealing Dyson's secret, but Kenzi shouldn't have to deal with it on her own.
Otherwise, Dyson is either going to tell Bo he has his love for her back or she's going to figure it out. I suspect it will be the later because Dyson seems very hesitant to tell her the truth. Is he afraid of rejection? Or does he truly not want to interfere in whatever is going on with her and Lauren? It's difficult to tell, but it's probably a bit of both.
It couldn't have been easy for him to walk in on Bo and Lauren's passionate kiss, but he recognized a happy Bo. And if you love someone you want them to be happy, right? But it would be interesting to see who Bo would pick if she knew all the information.
She doesn't, though, and we had a few extremely loving moments between Bo and Lauren. I'm glad that Bo is giving a relationship with Lauren a chance, even if their path certainly will be filled with plenty of twists and turns. The first being that Bo still has the darkness inside of her and will go outside the relationship to satisfy her hunger. Is that an arrangement that Lauren will accept? On an intellectual level, Lauren understands that Bo is a succubus, but when emotions get involved it becomes much more tricky to manage.
Bo: It's time.
Lauren: It's time?
Bo: Us.
Lauren: Really?
Bo: I want to give this a real shot. To be together. Life is too short. | permalinkKenzi: At least, Bo looks chipper.
Dyson: She looks happy. | permalink
What was your favorite moment? Do you believe that Bo and Lauren can have a successful relationship? Will the dark inside of Bo continue to grow or will she be able to control it? Should Dyson reveal the truth?

This epi was definitely full of surprises. No, I'm not into the girl on girl action. I am Dyson all the way.

Best episode ever!!! Well, maybe not ever, ''Death Didn't Become Him'', for exemple, was pretty awesome! But it's clearly at the top! Mostly thanks to all the Doccubus talk, which ends with some passionate making out between the two ladies! Sweet and beautiful and perfect! Anyone would melt at Lauren's ''Really''. Just, the look into her eyes and the tone of her voice, like it's the happiest day of her life! They both forget that they currently are in jail! lol :p
Fun episodes, some good delivery by Kenzi (my favorite ''because of your stupid penis?'' LOL), and a nice surprise during the main storyline's plot! :) So giving it a 5/5 for a perfect beginning to this third season! Plus, I just can't wait to see how Doccubus will go, hopefully it'll last for a while!
Oh, yeah, questions of the day:
- What was your favorite moment? Bo and Lauren making out and commiting to a relationship!
- Do you believe that Bo and Lauren can have a successful relationship? Yes!
- Will the dark

This was the best episode in AGES. It feels like I haven't enjoyed a Lost Girl episode since 208 (well, there was 221 which I thought was awesome) and that was one year ago.
I think it bodes well that the showrunner wrote this one. I'm counting on her to get it right.
By the way, love that Bo finally chose Lauren. The Bo/Dyson trainwreck doesn't even make sense anymore. Can't wait to see where that goes.

When Bo went to the prison it was like the start to some cheesy porno.
I'm always going to hold out for Bo and Dyson. Lauren just bugs me...she's too whiny.

Loved the homage to Caged Heat. This show works best when it's campy, fun and ridiculous. I thought this was the best Lost Girl episode I've seen in ages, flaws and all.
The fake out at the beginning was as predictable as the "twist" at the end, but I loved it anyway. Love that Bo chose Lauren and can't wait to see where that goes. Anna Silk and Zoie Palmer continue to be amazing together!
A+

I thought it was a weak premiere and I agree that the show is better when the whole gang is together. I did like the fake out in the beginning though. I'm really hoping for a Dyson and Bo reunion this year!

(part2)I just hope Lauren won't go down the same path as that would make me despise both sides of the triangle. Right now I am currently just firmly on NOT "team Dyson" after his possessive ways and Bo becoming an idiot when with him. I want to see Bo in a relationship where they try to deal with her Succubus nature without one side demanding that she changes. She needs to feed to live, so it is thoughtless and selfish to deny her this part when her physical well being depends on it as far as we know. Ryan accepted this part of her, but he was such a failure as a character.
For the end questions I think we all know the dark side of Bo is going to mess everything up spectacularly in all her relationships. With Dyson everyone keeps or kept secrets from Bo, but few gets blame/hate for it. So he is likely to get away w it but for the sake of his character he should come clean ASAP. It colors their interaction in a certain way that he keeps it from her. Also just want the whole ridiculo

This was a very strong start. The campy setting and theme is easy to mess up and make everything cringe worthy but it was was executed wonderfully. There was so many wonderful lines in this episode, especially from Kenzi and a few from Lauren. The plot required some suspension of belief a few times, like when Bo just took the pregnant woman to Lauren. One would think they would had run into some guards on the way? But nope.
So glad that Bo is finally with Lauren after so long. I am interested in seeing how they will be together. Also bonus she is not with Dyson as I hated how she became this little weak tween girl, which just goes against a lot of what is the core of the show. It does not help either that Dyson is at his worst as a character when with Bo. The whole super possessive and wanting Bo to deny her nature and calling her some variation of gross ugh... not romantic no matter what YA books says these days. It is controlling and a horrible trait and females should run far awa

I want Bo back with Dyson. Better suited. More chemistry. I enjoyed the Lauren distraction in season 2 but now we must return to the glory days of season one. Let the supernaturals run wild.
